Halo 2
« on: January 07, 2004, 06:43:17 AM »
So who\'s waiting for this one?

My friend bought an Xbox just for Halo (go figure) last week. The co-op mode truly is spectacular. They\'re very generous with extra lives in that mode (and therefor, extra ammo), so I actually played farther than level 3 with him.  We\'ve got two levels left to go.

In single player I would run out of ammo and gave up. I\'d probably be better at it now...

Anyway, with Halo 2 on the horizon, (It is on the horizon, right?) I wondered if anyone else was looking forward to more co-op fun.

What do they have planned for the sequel, any idea?

April \'04 is the current release date I believe.

I don\'t know much else about it besides what I\'ve seen from the trailers.  Perhaps pstwo could help out...

^ seems to have forgotten that Ninja Gaiden and Fable are due out soon.  While no guarentee they will be great games, there have been positive impressions thus far.

...whatever happened to N-Player?
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

well first of all, I think Halo 2 on the ps2 would blow monkey balls.  The PS2 is a great console with great games but it has hardware limitations.  As for games to warrant an xbox purchase;
Fable
Ninja Gaiden
KOTOR
Halo
Halo 2
Shenmue 2
Panzer Dragon Orta
Rainbow 6 3
Morrrowind
etc...

there are good games out there.

I\'m awaiting Halo 2, but not on the level that many others are.

What Eik saids is true: Halo is a good game with great co-op. Without that novelty (along with the solid multiplayer) the game isn\'t nearly as good. The gameplay is mostly intact, as are many other technical aspects.. but the level design destroys a lot of the fun factor. Single-player FPS\'s thrive on level design, Halo doesn\'t deliver.

It has a few good levels (notably The Silent Cartographer among a few others) but even those are plagued by repetitive indoor environments. Co-op sort of eases this pain, but the fact remains.. Halo was flawed.

Hopefully the excellent production values and solid gameplay can meet intriguing level design in Halo 2.

Sorry to get anyway near flame bait but can the X box handle HALF LIFE 2..and DOOM 3 ?

From what i have read, it will take a current PC with a direct X 9 card to run it nicely.

Half life2 and Doom3 have been announced to be release for the xbox. There is an article in GMR about Half Life2 and Doom3 being the most exciting games of 2004 on PC and Xbox

Last time I checked there was no official statement or release date from Bungie.  March/April was just an imaginary date someone said and everyone else jumped on.

Oh I\'m waiting for it too.
