NHL Playoffs... The not so sticky....
« Reply #135 on: June 08, 2004, 05:59:06 AM »
It wasn\'t over the line.  THe tv angle that got that shot was at an angle to it and since the puck was a couple inches in the air it just looked like it was over the line.  I haven\'t seen anyone give any kind of proof to the contrary.

Wow, what a tremendous burn. With the Dozens of pro teams that Nebraska has, I WONDER why nobody cares when a Nebraska team wins a professional sports title *rolls eyes*

See Yuz.
What do Kerry Wood, Mark Prior, Matt Clement, and Carlos Zambrano have in common?

They\'re the pieces to the next great pitching rotation of our time, what else?

GO CUBS!

Exactly.

I don\'t know why anyone could rag on Florida Sports for anything.

Why do people just assume that because we have a beach that we can\'t comprehend, much less be good and support, a game like hockey.

Check the attendance records.  I\'m willing to bet that we hold at least the top spot for single game attendance and maybe even the top 5-10 spots.

The attendance at hockey games all year have been great.  I know the games I went to were packed.

No worries.  It\'s ok to be like most others and just assume Florida sucks.  It certainly worked when everyone underestimated the Bucs two years ago.

The Lightning haven\'t been THAT successful when it comes to NHL attendance...

AVERAGE ATTENDANCE          2000-01 2001-02 2002-03

National Hockey League       16549    16486      16591

Tampa Bay Lightning            14907    15366      16545

an avg of 16,545 in an arena that can hold over 27000 in 2002/03?  That is below the league avg as you can see.  The games that they do sell out are due to the other team that is visiting - ie. Detroit, Colorado, etc... That is how it is everywhere there is a weak market.  Colorado, I believe has the record for consecutive sold out home games.

Oh, full year, no.  I said single game record.

But even 12th in attendance beats out almost 2/3rds of the other teams.

they had over 30,000 people?  Let me see.  Tampa vs Philly in 96 had 29,550 or something like that.

They had 57,165 and set the record on November 22 2003.  Then again it was an outdoor game.

I for one didn\'t realize how big the arena in Tampa was - it can hold 28,000?  That is insane!

not any more.  They use to play in the baseball stadium.  It\'s capacity is around 22,900 now in the hockey arena.
