OK, now that it\'s getting close to playoffs it\'s time to drum up interest in the NHL.  Heck, we haven\'t had a sticky either so that\'s always good.

Quick question.  Do people in other areas of the country even realize how freaking good the Lightning are playing?  You look on national websites and you don\'t get shit for coverage on the Lightning, yet they have the best record in the league.

They have a deal now, buy 6 tickets and get two playoff tickets for free.  So tempted to do it, but that\'s 600 bucks for my wife and I...  Damn it would rock though.  Oh well.  I have Big Log to deal with anyway.

Honestly, I had no idea how well the lightning were doing.  My friend I talk about hockey with was just like...how the hell are the Lightning in first in all of the NHL and I was just like...wait...what...how?  That\'s prolly just because I haven\'t been following hockey closely.  The Rangers are too depressing.  Oh well.  In the playoffs, go any Canadian team.  If that doesn\'t work out, go anyone who isn\'t the Devils.

That is how I got to see the Stanley Cup in Philly back in the mid 80\'s.  Dad had a 12 game plan and we were offered tickets to the playoffs and he bought the Stanley Cup Finals ones betting Philly would go the the Cup and sure enough they did.  Didn\'t matter to me though as I was an Edmonton fan at the time. ;)  Nothing like being in the old Spectrum wearing a Gretzky jersey.

I think the Lightning will fold in the post season - just a hunch.  I am surprised no one has talked about the Bertuzzi incident and the ruling.

Funny how Marty McSorley taps a guy with his stick and he is suspended for a year.  Bertuzzi gets away with 17 games...

McSorley - untalented goon
Bertuzzi - All Star goon

I would bet if Bertuzzi didn\'t put the numbers he does he would have been gone for a lot longer - if not indefinitely.

I am disappointed the Thrashers won\'t be going - they had such high hopes before Heatley\'s accident.  I went to the Thrashers/Rangers game two Sundays ago and had club seats - gotta love being waited on.

Actually it is being reviewed and Bertuzzi may be suspended next year as well.
http://www.nhl.com/onthefly/news/2004/03/206088.html

"No final determination on the total duration of Mr. Bertuzzi\'s suspension has yet been made," Mr. Campbell said. "Mr. Bertuzzi will be required to meet with Commissioner Bettman prior to the start of training camp for the 2004-05 season, at which point Mr. Bertuzzi\'s eligibility will be reviewed in light of all the available facts at that time, including Mr. Moore\'s physical status and the progression of his recovery."

And even last year the Lightning went on to the second round.  They are a great team.  I went to the Devils game last weekend and it rocked.  We were down 2-1 and with the goalie pulled we scored to tie it up with 9 seconds left.  We then won 2 minutes into OT.  Friggen awesome.

We took Logan and he absolutely loved it.

I don\'t know I just can\'t see Tampa going to the Cup - This is like deja vu withe the Hurricanes 2 years ago.  Besides the regular season means nothing as long as you make the playoffs.

I have been taking Ethan to games since he was 6 months old - he is so used to everything now and when we went to the Rangers game it was kids day and he got a free jersey.  It was hilarious since it is huge, but I put him in it anyway.

As for Bertuzzi - I bet he is back at the beginning of next year if Moore is doing fine.

He was a big drama queen last night at the press conference.  Being able to cry on demand is a talent.

I am not buying it.  It was a premeditated attack.

Of course it was premeditated, but you can be sure he didn\'t mean to break the dude\'s neck.

I didn\'t see the press conference, but I certainly can\'t imagine the dude isn\'t feeling a ton of regret.

I guess you all don\'t watch much hockey - Bertuzzi isn\'t the nicest guy around.  His Academy Award performance during the interview I am sure influenced some of those that judged him.  "Steve, I didn\'t mean to hurt you."  Sure he didn\'t.

Also when Moore was lying on the ice in his own blood - Tony Granato (the Avalanche coach) was yelling at the Vancouver bench and the camera had a close up one of the Vancouver coaches smirking over the incident.

They didn\'t know the dude broke his neck though dide they?  I mean it looked like a bloody nose.  Although he was a little motionless.

Dude busted his nose hard core on the ice at the game I was at last week.  Damn blood looks nasty on the ice.

When a guy is lying motionless on the ice you don\'t smirk.  Sorry... but it seems everyone else in the arena knew something was terribly wrong.

Anyway, I remember being at a preseason Ranger/Philly game that turned into wrestlemania.  Hell even the the two goaltenders got into it... and the blood was everywhere - you know its a bitter rivalry when the bench clears in a meaningless pre season game.

Settle down Giga... yes bertuzzi meant to  punch moore in the face... but that isnt exactly considered an injury in the NHL...

Moore fractured his neck when he hit the ice... Bertuzzi didnt intend to injure him that way... so thats what he meant when he says he had no intent to  injure.

And shame on you for thinking his press conference was an act... Im sure if you were responsible for the possible end of another mans career you would be a slight bit emotional....
