i play a ton of PS1 games on my PS2

no PS2 game ever came close to TM2 co-op

I guess i\'m just a emu whore. I tend to use epsxe for my psx games.. Does a far better job then ps2 could ever do.

We don\'t play any 2 player psx games.. I have far better 2 player console games on my DC and Ps2.

Or

we just setup a lan and play whatever pc games we want too.

I am with mm partially.Some people love the convenience of being able to play their old PSX games on their PS2 console.It just doesnt seem the same on the PC for some people including me.
I love the fact that I just pop my cd in my console and play on the go.
Also something else that nobody took into consideration.

Although you compare the shift from PS1 to PS2 with backwards compatibility you forget that their is no PS2 emulator for the PC (and I doubt if we ever see one) and as far as I know there is no XBOX emulation either.Unlike back then we could play PS1 games on our PCs since 1998 if I am not mistaken.This doesnt happen with this generation

And so it seems the only option if you dont want to have 2 consoles (or 4 if you get both PS3 and XBOX2 and want to play older games on them) connected on your TV backwards compatibility sounds like a great deal.

Despite that though I dont think it will affect in the same degree the sales as it was with PS2 backwards compatibility.Although backwards compatibility is sure to help sales boosting.It just wont do it in the same degree

Right now people care about the technological brakethroughs and other offerings.

There are ps2 emulators, they\'re not playing commercial games atm. There\'s also Xbox emulators.

ps2 emu
Xeon or Cxbx being xbox emulators.

Only current console system that currently has a fully (well close too) working emulator is the DC. Chanka being that emu. But like anything, its not about if xbox or ps2 will be fully emulated, but when.

I\'m not saying its a bad idea, I\'m just saying for myself. It\'s just not a big problem.

Thanks for the links Soully. From this day forward I will only download games on Bearshare and play them on these EMUs.

sigh.. i\'m not saying that. I simply said i use emulators over my old consoles simply because they\'re easier to use and normally look far better. Just as time goes along, ps2, xbox, dc emulators will end up having better graphics then the consoles. EpsxE does a far better job running psx games then psx does itself. Same with pretty much ever other console emulator thats the best in whatever console its emulating (not this gen... yet!)

I just find backwards compatibility a useless thing. I barely play older games and if i do, i\'ll just use emulators.

turn on the console, and have a seat on the couch

don\'t get me wrong, PC\'s > consoles

but i\'ll never understand why people would go thru all that effort

its not effort once you\'ve set it up.. Bin images are so much more faster then screwing around with cds.

much simpler could it be?

1. insert disk
2. press power
3. grab beer
4. ????
5. profit!

here\'s a word for you, compatibility.

now if you\'re emu\'ing dead systems like NES, neo-geo, Tg-16, ect, thats ok.

but emu\'ing a buggy translation of PS2 and xbox games is just stupid.
