Both the game and the graphics play a role. The ratios may differ, but you can\'t factor out either one. Especially next generation.

I didn\'t say otherwise.  My point was that you don\'t need the most powerful hardware of the generation to make a fun game.  This, being a PS2 message board, should be full of people who understand that.

Yes, I understand that. And now Xbox fanboys are saying it\'s the games, not the graphics, in fear that the PS3 may in fact be more powerful. I just buy every console so I don\'t miss out on any great titles. I don\'t see the point of defending to the death any piece of electronic equipment.

Well I will just state what most developers themselves state :

"they will make THE games for THE console they think has the most appropriate installed base of fans for THAT game"

Example : Silent Hill games. Technically very do-able on Gamecube. Konami had/has done games for NGC, but no SH games on NGC.

Becuz ; Konami perceives PS2 & Xbox to have the right installed base of gamers who are fans of such games.

The tech power and way of coding of a console does play a role for each developer, although indirectly.

I bet a lot of sony sheep are going to be pretty pissed if sony doesn\'t deliver mind blowing specs come monday.

I\'ll have a bucket a pop corn and be sitting at puter waiting on the first match to be lit.

It\'s both, but when was the last time you didn\'t like your PS2 because the Xbox was out?  The Xbox is more powerful than PS2, that\'s just a fact.  There\'s no sense in arguing that.

I\'m the same way, and I don\'t see the need to boast about the power of one either.

Not so much, imo.  The first party developers aren\'t going anywhere no matter what happens, and that\'s why I was saying there\'s absolutely no point in speculating their efforts on another system.

The Xbox and PS2 share alot of titles even though the PS2 has such an "exotic" architecture compared.  Most third party developers will go where ever they can make a buck regardless of power, and that falls in line with your first point.

That\'s a given, but it has nothing to do with my arguement.

I knew I shouldn\'t have asked...
