Problem with downloaded files...
« on: November 07, 2005, 11:34:21 PM »
I\'ve been downloading files and a lot of them are corrupt for some reason, but when I download these files on another computer, the files are fine.  There must be some sort of problem occuring during the download process.  Does anyone know how to address this issue?

On the contrary, brand new.  Hitachi Deskstar 500 GB Sata-II HD.

I think it has more to do with the internet connection, but I may be mistaken.  I\'m having a computer tech come over and check it out tomorrow.

heh.

He said Deskstar...Also known as....DEATHSTARS.

Your HD could very well be the problem. They are known for issues right out of the box.

For your sake, I hope it isn\'t the HD, but I do know that earlier Deskstars was terrible about failing on people right out of the box. Hopefully that is a problem that was corrected with these new models.

For some lame ass reason, when I use Firefox for downloading videos, the videos usually end up corrupt...unless I use the Download ALL feature (or extension). I don\'t get it. But all other files seem to be fine and the videos are fine when downloaded in OTHER browsers. Anyway...that\'s probably not related to your issue, and I also hope it\'s not your HDD.

I hate when that happens but I only had that problem after I realplayer somehow got selected as the media player.

On my laptop I don\'t have any problems with my downloads with firefox

Now I have bigger problems.  I was checking things out in my computer, and actually put more memory in, but now for some reason my computer doesn\'t turn on.  I\'ve been checking to make sure everything is connected to the power supply, and everything is.  I just don\'t get it, less than an hour ago it was working and now it doesn\'t even power up.
