Someone earlier asked why M$ didn\'t add a HD-DVD drive, simple at the time of 360\'s Production HD-DVD was not finalized yet, nor was the tools and production ready. In other words M$ can\'t add HD-dvd when it\'s not ready.

in other words, they rushed it out the door

It will be the end of the world if ever a console launch will appear which actually stomps current high end pc gaming.

I can argument becuz i have been in Xbox360 game development the past 3 months ; developers didn\'t have time on their side for 1st gen Xbox360 games.

The real next gen power will show with games like :

- Gears of War
- Alan Wake
- Xbox360 Oblivion
- Sega\'s new Afterburner
- NBA 2K06
- etc !

(watch latest trailers of respective games to get a clue...ow wait... you still on dial up modem ? ....ugh)

Like I have been saying all along ; Xbox360 launches very very early. Maybe a bit too early for it\'s own good.

But ! We do know that upcoming games will be optimized for true next gen hardware which\'s performance and features even 3000 Euro pc hardware cannot touch.

For example (quote) ; "I believe it\'s because to get AA for "free" by rendering the scene in the console\'s DRAM, the engine has to support tiled rendering. Apperently none of the launch games were made to take advantage of this feature, and so they simply left AA off (or in the case of PGR3, lowered the resolution slightly so that they could use AA and get the image to fit into the DRAM). I\'m guessing all of the post-launch games will have tiling, since the DRAM wasn\'t availible to developers until the final version of the kit was availible, and 2 months isn\'t much time to rebuild an engine to support tiling (which apperently is much easier to build into an engine if you plan for it from the begining instead of adding it on later)."

So... there you have it. The 2nd batch of Xbox360 will impress alot more.

If Sony\'s smart, they won\'t rush the PS3. After Wanda & the Colossus and MGS3 Substinence PAL releases, then it\'s time to start writing off that PStwo.

But really, I know the true next gen graphics WILL impress.

well the thing is most of the things seen on XBOX360 are the same I ve been seeing on PC games for many many months.

Its almost like getting what you could get on PCs before, just cheaper now.

i think that will be the case from here on out...graphics aren\'t really an issue here in regards to both ps3 and the 360....there was a time when we wanted "arcade perfect" translations...well "current" consoles have gone way above and beyond that....i agree with knotter in the sense that we\'re like in the middle of the road as far as true cgi realtime quality graphics.(next gen will show that quality)..thing is tho,...for those of us that grew up with the atari 2600 and earlier versions, we can really appreciate what we\'re seein now...

as for those spoiled brats and young heads that\'s growin up in the late 90\'s and beyond, they will look at these consoles and just say "yawn".... next!...:p

Maybe, but I\'d still choose Ms. Pac-Man over Call of Duty 2.

Just sayin.

I remember there are games like Dynasty Warriors 2 and Gun Griffon Blaze along with Kessen as real time strategy, atleast they have variety for launch list.

DOA4 delayed again!

Well, now it looks like DOA4 won\'t be available for the December 10 Asian 360 launch.  It should ship December 17, after this latest delay.  Hopefully no more delays or they\'re going to miss Chrismas shoppers too!

*BUMP* (I bump only because this is new, and hillarious double-news)

1.  Sony confirms spring 2006 launch for PS3.

2.  DOA 4 delayed AGAIN!  (Dec 10 to Dec 14 in NA) HAHAHAHAHAHA.

4 days is not that long of a wait. It really won\'t effect sales .

Speaking of sales, I\'ve noticed a shortage of Nintendo DS\'s where I live. Every place is selling out due to the holiday season.

It\'s more the fact that it was supposed to be a launch title, then it was delayed to \'launch title for Asia\' (December 10), and now it won\'t be a launch title anywhere.  Lots of NA gamers had DOA4 ordered with their 360s, and have either been waiting all this time or got the shaft in a game substitute.  Personally I find that hillarious, because if it\'s supposed to be on shelves by say, the 10th, there are only foolish reasons for it to get delayed 4 days.

Man, I hate bumping with a double, but this is hillarious now.  Remember, or originally supposed to be a Launch release in both NA and Japan (ie, November 02 NA - December 10, Japan)

HAHAHAHAH.

Make that December 17 for Japan, and December 21 in North America.  Delay it one more time and they\'re going to miss Christmas all together here in NA.

PS - in that link, scroll down, check out the \'European\' Release dates.  I also found that pretty  (and I feel bad for Europe, of course)

And this, the last and ultimate bump:

So the new date is December 29, 2005.  No DOA4 for christmas.  Not even close to the original planned date of November 22 (launch), 2005.  Ouch.  This might have helped sales in a lagging Japan, but now they have nothing that will apeal to the market there for the holidays.
