What have you been smoking Uni ?
It will be the end of the world if ever a console launch will appear which actually stomps current high end pc gaming.
I can argument becuz i have been in Xbox360 game development the past 3 months ; developers didn\'t have time on their side for 1st gen Xbox360 games.
The real next gen power will show with games like :
- Gears of War
- Alan Wake
- Xbox360 Oblivion
- Sega\'s new Afterburner
- NBA 2K06
- etc !
(watch latest trailers of respective games to get a clue...ow wait... you still on dial up modem ? ....ugh)
Like I have been saying all along ; Xbox360 launches very very early. Maybe a bit too early for it\'s own good.
But ! We do know that upcoming games will be optimized for true next gen hardware which\'s performance and features even 3000 Euro pc hardware cannot touch.
For example (quote) ; "I believe it\'s because to get AA for "free" by rendering the scene in the console\'s DRAM, the engine has to support tiled rendering. Apperently none of the launch games were made to take advantage of this feature, and so they simply left AA off (or in the case of PGR3, lowered the resolution slightly so that they could use AA and get the image to fit into the DRAM). I\'m guessing all of the post-launch games will have tiling, since the DRAM wasn\'t availible to developers until the final version of the kit was availible, and 2 months isn\'t much time to rebuild an engine to support tiling (which apperently is much easier to build into an engine if you plan for it from the begining instead of adding it on later)."
So... there you have it. The 2nd batch of Xbox360 will impress alot more.
If Sony\'s smart, they won\'t rush the PS3. After Wanda & the Colossus and MGS3 Substinence PAL releases, then it\'s time to start writing off that PStwo.
But really, I know the true next gen graphics WILL impress.
