Movie Buff\'s (not really)- about Se7en..
« on: November 20, 2005, 01:04:14 AM »
So i actually sat through the whole thing, lol. Dont ask me why but it came out when i wasnt "old enough" to watch it so i just never got around to seeing the whole thing. Id catch parts, but then not want to watch it all because i wanted to see the whole thing, but never did.

anyway..i guess ill use spoilers for the hell of it:

[sp]i dont get why the chick died. The last sin was wrath/anger, which would more go towards brad pitt, but what i dont get is that pitt didnt die. Every sin, the person dies, even the killer for envy. But it seems like he killed the chick, just to get pitt angry enough to kill him for envy..so the chick didnt do anything out of \'anger\' to justify killing her.[/sp]

Hmm, too long ago for me to exactly remember why...

I know he got offended when disguised as that news reporter, to acquire the cop\'s name and home adress.

But indeed, looking at it that way it\'s a major fallacy in his reasoning.

Anyway, the movie was another good example as to why i stay away from any religion.

[sp]Critical mistake in your reasoning here. The killer envied the relationship of Brad/Gywneth. Thus, he committed the act of Envy and like his other sins.. it was to the extreme. He hated what they had and he didn\'t so much that he ended what they had by severing her head.

Setting up the sin of Wrath. Brad Pitt simply couldn\'t forgive John Doe for killing his wife, thus he took wrath upon him.[/sp]

I thought it was obvious when John Doe said to the Detective...

"Become Wrath..."
And of course, Morgan Freeman was goin\'.

"PUT THE GUN DOWN...PUT THE GUN DOWN..."

Brad Pitt..

"AH..WHATS IN THE BOX? WHATS IN THE  BOX? "

Hehh.

Great movie.

The scene where they drive John to the place is my personal favorite dialogue driven scene ever.

Fully agreed about that scene.

Kevin Spacey is just great. Throw in Freeman and Pitt, and some top-rung direction by Fincher.. and bam.

"John Doe: Innocent? Is that supposed to be funny? An obese man... a disgusting man who could barely stand up; a man who if you saw him on the street, you\'d point him out to your friends so that they could join you in mocking him; a man, who if you saw him while you were eating, you wouldn\'t be able to finish your meal. After him, I picked the lawyer and I know you both must have been secretly thanking me for that one. This is a man who dedicated his life to making money by lying with every breath that he could muster to keeping murderers and rapists on the streets!

David Mills: Murderers?

John Doe: A woman...

David Mills: Murderers, John, like yourself?

John Doe: [interrupts] A woman... so ugly on the inside she couldn\'t bear to go on living if she couldn\'t be beautiful on the outside. A drug dealer, a drug dealing pederast, actually! And let\'s not forget the disease-spreading whore! Only in a world this shitty could you even try to say these were innocent people and keep a straight face. But that\'s the point. We see a deadly sin on every street corner, in every home, and we tolerate it. We tolerate it because it\'s common, it\'s trivial. We tolerate it morning, noon, and night. Well, not anymore. I\'m setting the example. What I\'ve done is going to be puzzled over and studied and followed... forever."

Muahaha so deliciously evil. I think i\'ll throw this movie on right now actually :D

Deliciously evil yet eerily rational at the same time. Brilliant.
