My BIG Surgery...
« on: December 27, 2005, 07:57:57 PM »
I just had a bone and cartilage graft knee replacement surgery on December 21st. I\'ve been waiting for this final surgery for 6 years. If I had not had this surgery, my knee would\'ve only lasted 5 more years before completely falling apart. Yeah...shattered knees suck. Now my knee has about 30 years on it before I need a complete knee replacement...and by then, I\'m sure technology will have made some advancements.

Anyway...this may be a cause for celebration for some of you because I will not be posting on here as much...if at all...for a month or two. I\'ll be on crutches for 2 months and it will take 6 months before I feel "normal" again. I\'ll have to go to my first 2 weeks of next semester on crutches, which pretty much blows. Anyway, I hope you all had a great Christmas (or whatever) and I hope your New Year brings you many great things in life. I guess you could say I got a new knee for Christmas...hehe.

Anyway...I\'ll see you guys around. Take care and peace.

The crutches don\'t effect my posting. The knee hurting like holy hell is what effects my posting. ;) I\'m on some pain meds right now so I\'m ok for a few. But I have to stay on this CPM (Continuous Passive Motion) machine for at least 8 hours a day, so that my knee heals properly. It keeps the blood flow even across my leg and keeps it from healing stiff and f^cked up.

And thanks.

Man that sucks, how\'d it happen/ is it genetic? I think my knee is kind of messed up too, but it bothers me rarely I use to here a pop  in the back of my knee everyone in awhile when I was in high school and it would cramp up here and there and I wouldn\'t be able to run on it well.

I fell about 6 years ago I completely shattered my knee. However, I didn\'t know that until about 2 years ago because when I had my original surgery, the dumb fuck surgeons seemed to pass over the large chunk of my knee that was missing. So I\'ve been treating it like it\'s been fixed...which has made it 50 times worse.

I\'m surprised I never really felt pain while my knee slowly fell apart over the years. But now I\'ve found a kick ass surgeon and he\'s fixed it. My injury was actually a rare case and my doctor did a tutorial video with my surgery so he could show other doctors how to do this type of surgery. So I guess I\'ve given to the knee injury community or something.

Flintstones Kid\'s Chewable Morphine...just kidding. ;) Naww...they gave me these horse pill Percosets. They don\'t work nearly as well as the Morphine, but they help. I usually have to take two, but the walls start pulsing when I take that many.

And thanks for all the comments, guys. Gotta stay positive during this crappy time. On top of all this my great aunt got pneumonia and a few days ago they gave her a 10% chance to live...but now she\'s made a complete reversal recovery and now she\'s most likely going to get through this. :)

I can only get on the computer for a few minutes at a time. It hurts so incredibly bad to get around on my crutches, dragging the weight of the splint around on my right knee. I get kind of dizzy and the pain is just too much right now. So I have to work up the will to get up and around. So I just prefer to stay in bed on pain meds...at least for the time being. It really sucks.
