No 1080p PS3 games anytime soon

To add to the pile today, Kikizo asked a few questions of SCEE\'s Jonathan Fargher, where he talks about the lack of HDMI cables and their impact on 1080p content, and what content would be available. If you manage to get your hands on a PS3, you\'ll still be able to play 1080p movies, but probably not games, at least anytime soon.

So I guess this means high definition gaming really did start with the 360, huh?

I\'m a tool but I just found the switch last week to activate HD on the cable with my 360.

Made me put Fight Night back in. :)

if you have Kameo or Perfect Dark Zero you NEED to check those out in Hi-def.  Kameo\'s textures are...amazing...still haven\'t been topped...go now.

I happen to have both of those. I\'ll check out Kameo, I remember how bright and vivid it was already.

Yeah it\'s hit or miss with games because sharp, crappy graphics aren\'t very exciting.

But I was fooled because I went into my Xbox settings, switched it to Hi-Def and went on my way. I only recently went back because I didn\'t know if I had done it and saw that there was a switch on the cable too that I needed to flip.

I noticed the improvement right away, but from farther away I don\'t see it because my eyes are a little wonky and blur it anyway, heh.

i\'m not suprised however, that the PS3 is having trouble with 1080P graphics.  hell, 3000$ PC\'s have trouble with 1280x1024 resolution in games like Oblivion

I\'m taking a quick look now, the last time I saw the list they had 3 games listed for 1080p resolution coming out in the first 4 months after launch.  If I come across the article again, if I find it I\'ll post it.

Why is every topic Riku posts Anti-Sony/PS3?

Are they still aiming for 1080p?  I believe it\'s in that article that it sites a couple of developers who were previously aiming for 1080p have reconsidered and are now going for 720p.

I\'m not sure how much weight to throw behind this claim.  It is Sony afterall.

They are merely observations.  You can read in to it what you want.

Personally I\'d still say : high polygon count > resolution.

Only the best ingame models and fx justify high resolution.

Why would i want to have a game which amplifies the sight
of low(er) poly models
