Debunking the \'PS3 has no games\' myth

i heard pstwo committed suicide when this 360 red ringed.

PS3 has plenty of games, even now.
only the ardent haters still contest that.

This is console discussion,  is it not Raz?  You discuss consoles here.  I come back after months of hibernation and post 2 topics,  reviving a forum that was spiraling toward death because of it\'s lame posters who refuse to show any sort of favoritism toward a console because they\'re worried about their \'online\' reputation and all I get is I don\'t want to hear it and your obsessed. lol

I should\'ve realized I\'m in what is basicly a 90% xbox 360 fanboy forum and any subject that gives the PS3 props will be taken over by trolls

The intention of the original post was to show that PS3 had more games rated higher than the Wii despite the myth that the Wii has more games and the PS3 doesn\'t have any.  I was going to give just the facts and say \'you make your own conclusion\',  but I didn\'t,  but I should have considering the rabibd 360 fanboys here.

Then came the haters. NVIDIA came in and started flaming me. Raz followed right along. Then one night I ranted in a post about the 360. I guess that really ticked them off. If they wanted to they could easily rant on the PS3 about alot of things but they are afraid to show their true feelings.

Wow this forum has really lost it\'s edge.  I remember discussing and debating the 360 and PS3 with Rikku and PSTWO.  We didn\'t resort to childish name calling and outright lies.

We posted topics and we discussed/debated.  We didn\'t resort to childish \'your living your mom\'s basement\' comments.  I can imagine whipping you in an online game only to have you blabber \'go outside and get some air you take this game too seriously\' when you\'re probably the pastiest little thing.  Then we could play some one on one REAL basketball and I\'d still whip your boney butt then what?

As for taking consoles too seriously,  why are you on an internet forum posting about them?  Don\'t be a hypocrite.  Just look how you ranted in favor of the 360 in your first reply.  I was just making a point that PS3 had games and you had to drag it off into something else and claim I\'m trolling. :rolleyes:

I remember those days also, but I also realize that most of us have grown up and realized that the stuff you keep ranting on really don\'t matter.


I never ranted in favor of the 360. I merely pointed out some problems with your point. I don\'t have a favorite console, fact is, I think all three are severely lacking at this point. Does the 360 have more games? Sure, but one would expect that due to the head start it had.

At this point I have no real reason to buy either console.

However, the 2008 forecast shows, to me, a slight more incentive
to save up for PS3. Then again, when I play Xbox and PS2 it\'s still
fun and their latest games still look very good.

i think the problem is, some of the really good games on ps3, have only just come out, and been on the 360 for a while!

I have a couple problems with the PS3 title list in the first post.
 
1.  Half the titles are sports games, which to me are not groundbreaking, and usually not interesting.  Certainly not reason enough to buy a new console, vs. buying that game for an existing console.
 
2.  I don\'t trust the Gamespot ratings anymore.  I think the ratings are somewhat inflated early in a console\'s lifecycle.  It seems to me that games which received a 9.x around the time of the launch, would never get a score that high if reviewed six months later.  To me it calls into question the validity of their whole rating system.

Stop posting other\'s people\'s opinions and stating them as FACT...

This make you lose most, if not all, your credibility...

Sometime ago I debunked the rumor that the PS3 wasn\'t selling,  now I will debunk the myth that the PS3 does not have any games.

After all,  this is the #1 reason people use to explain why they haven\'t purchased a PS3.  Alot can afford the price but the common complaint is there aren\'t any games to warrant the price.

I\'m not going to argue what is considered \'enough\' games to warrant $600.  Some are waiting for MGS,  FF,  or Gran Turismo before they make the plunge which is understandable.

But what about current PS3 owners?  Do they simply have nothing to play?

How about the Nintendo Wii?  Since it\'s launch many have claimed that they can play more,  funner games on a $250 system rather than pay $600 to play no games.

So let\'s find out the truth.

I looked through all 343 PS3 games at Gamespot.com and recorded those with a rating of 8.0 or higher.  These are the results:

I looked through all 500 games at Gamespot.com for the Wii.  I only recorded the games that have a rating of 8.0 and higher.  I did not record the virtua console games.  Super Mario 1? c\'mon

The Xbox 360 had a truckload of games rated over 8.0,  but it has been out 12 months longer than both the Wii and PS3.  So I didn\'t bother comparing it\'s games.

I will let the results speak for themselves.

Funny how when people say something enough,  like how PS3 has no games and the Wii has a ton of fun games,  how quickly a lie can catch on and spread and somehow become truth.

As for future games,  the Wii has SMB and Mario Galaxy this fall,  the PS3 heavenly sword,  lair and ratchet and clank.  for 2008 it looks very bad for the Wii but for PS3 there is MGS4,  GT5, FF13 little big planet and get goes on and on

Results dont speak anything yet until  PS3 gets some of its highly promising games. Many of the games you mentioned are also nothing special and dont diversify the console enough yet. They are mainly ports and as Coredweller said your list is filled with sports games. How many care about Tiger Woods, NHL etc?
 It has a few pretty great games, some of its exclusives are great but they are still very few.

 Its is also important to note that there isnt enough variety of good games in each genre. A console needs a variety of good adventure, platform, racing, puzzle, RPG etc etc. There are many kinds of gamers out there. They cant all be satisfied by the same good games. Sigma, Motorstorm, Resistence, Virtua Fighter, Darkness etc are all good games, but how many will be interested in all of them? Bob likes Motorstorm but Resistance doesnt do it for him. Tom likes Resistance but not interested on Darkness or Motorstorm. Chris likes platform games but there arent any.

Also some of its good games like Tekken 5 are unavailable to many regions of the world. PSN does no support their countries.

 PS3 still lacks. It is understandable considering its still new but needs games nevertheless.

For reference, the 360 has close to 60 (57 I think) games at 8.0 or higher on gamespot, most are titles I\'d never touch, but then again, the same applies to the PS3.

Reviews are bullshit though.  I\'ve enjoyed plenty of games that got crappy ratings and I\'ve despised games that got rave reviews.

Bleh, I should just buy a DS and be done with consoles for a while.
