At least they will admire you for your honesty. That\' probably weighs more than just lying.
That\'s the way I look at it. Don\'t pussyfoot around the matter. State your mind and be done with it.
Sheeit!....the last job i had before movin to Atlanta, i was there for about 16 years, but even tho i had some pull in the company in the sense that i could do pretty much what i wanted as well, i would never have called in and said some s**t like that!........you got some balls of steel there LIC!
I\'m allowed six call ins - each one of those can be for one work week (3 - 12 hour days). I never use those for sick. I always say why I\'m not there. I\'ve called in for movies, when I got my new TV, hell I called in once and just said I wasn\'t interested in coming to work. See, where they get you is, if you call in and say you\'re sick and then caught out of work goofing off, you can be fired / put on probation or some nonsense. So, I just don\'t lie about it. And I always take the whole work week off if I call in and I always state, when I call in the first time, I won\'t be there the rest of the week.
Factor that in with three weeks vacation, so I get a total nine weeks off during the year. Not to mention, I only work on the average three days a week (with an odd four day or five day week).
Plenty of time off for me. However, it should also be noted, I\'ve never had a single tardy. I am always on time at work and sometimes stay over when needed. In fact, I stayed over once for an extra four hours (Already worked 12) to help out, so the company gave me a day off, a gift card to Wal-mart and a thank you.
As far as doing my job and not questioning it. There are ways around that. You get to know people and how to take people. When you do that, you know how to approach things. I am not saying I don\'t do my job or I refuse to do stuff. NO, I do it when told, but if I have a problem with it for what ever reason, I will state that reason.
"No, I don\'t have any questions."
That lie is just plain stupid. You learn something new every day, at least I do. I don\'t believe in dumb questions, so I\'m not afraid to ask them. If for some reason, I don\'t want to ask it infront of people, I ask in private. If you ask the question, there is no confusion and if there isn\'t confusion, there should be no reason you can\'t perform your job at great level.
"I\'m right on schedule.
I make fun of this lie daily. Our work is totally schedule based. But the schedule changes due to customer demands and machine breakdowns , etc. My running joke with management and my boss is, "when the new schedule comes out, I bet we\'ll be right back on schedule". It\'s a great joke due to the fact with each new schedule, they take in account what has happened the past 24 hours and redo it all. Sure, we\'re behind schedule now, but unless it gets real bad, we\'ll be back on schedule tomorrow!
