I wonder though.... whether it\'ll hurt the game to not have bigger sized enemies, like in Gears of War or Resistance 2.

depends if it fits with the story. honestly, i was a little disappointed in the gameplay of resistance\'s giant thing. it looked amazing, but why does the thing only grab your character? and how would that not kill him? and shooting him in the mouth looked too easy. just seemed too scripted.

I was thinking the same thing when looking at these pics...well at least in terms of the enemy characters,..they look kinda short & stubby...reminds me a bit of madden football models....and this game has been in development forever...will this game even be relevant when it drops?...i\'m not into fps, but COD4 looks better than this imo...

imo graphically KillZone2 takes a hot steaming dump on COD4.  Many times over in fact...

Forever? Forever as in Too Human, which was planned for PSX, or forever as in say, slightly longer than it took to develope MGS4? Which is the case so far  (less than a year longer if it lands in Feb).

Seems to me you\'re being an overly negative nancy about a game in a genre that doesn\'t interest you.

you need to post more

btw, there are bigger enemies than those grunts. Not 300 feet tall, but probably a little more than twice as big as the grunts

True. I forgot the big baddy boss :

Besides, the enemies kind of look stubby because they\'re so packed with layered gear.

Graphics-wise between Cod4 & KZ2 ... i\'d say wait \'til KZ2 releases. Atm Cod features more variation and it\'s got this very distinct Xbox360 graphics look (if you\'re a sucker for that).

yea i won\'t comment on how kz2\'s graphics are compared to other games, mainly because all i\'ve really seen are off-screen videos. there have been a few direct feed ones, but those are still more grainy than actually playing the game.

has there been any word on different stages? one place says all theyve shown is one level, so there could be more variation. but one of the developers during E3 said that the game is gritty and gray because the world is gritty and gray (or something to that affect) so im kind of expecting the same theme throughout the game. maybe theyll follow gears of war\'s path and have killzone 3 be colorful compared to 2

and what about MGS4 ? and FFXIII?  or the full GT5 ?  Doesn\'t matter how long they are in development if they will turn into beautiful games. Will they ?
We\'ll see.

And speaking about graphics all in all and tech KillZone2 blows away COD4; if you are interested I will show you all the tech about KillZone2 engine(Scale, details, lighting shading, effects, the particle engine, animations, physics and destruct-able buildings and AI.)
Anyway what I want is a solid great game-play and a very nice single-player experience.

Heh...everybody seems to be rippin\' me for my comment,..i\'ll have to go back and make another comparison,...i just remember sayin\' to myself when i first saw COD4, that "wow i\'m not into fps, but this is one nice lookin\' game"...and that i was really impressed with some of the gameplay vids i\'ve seen...

*edit*...y\'know that\'s a pretty impressive vid....and even tho the vid is low quality..i can still tell that the game has some strong visuals...

... you noticed the luv eh ? lawl

The thing is : COD4 has present day earthly settings with lots of vegetation, which it does very well.

KZ2\'s setting is the Helghast planet ; makes it more difficult to relate to, thus
it feels less \'realistic\'

You explained the way i felt about COD4 perfectly...i like the earthly settings of the game which makes it more true to life and realistic....so yeah instead of me saying the graphics are better, i should\'ve just mentioned that i like the environmental settings better..:D

Multiplayer looks GODLIKE. Didnt think it would look this good. Happy to hear it has classes like in Team Fortress 2. Could turn out to be a really solid MP-shooter.

But SP is still why I am getting the game.

Killzone 2 Preview:

Quote

In many ways, Killzone 2 is a fairly traditional FPS. The controls are basic, with shoulder buttons for firing and tossing grenades, as well as the ability to sprint, take cover, jump, and a variety of other actions. The game features a ton of weapons and emphasizes the importance of working together with your squad. Enemies work together to take you down, so helping out your allies and keeping them alive is critical to your success.

The story here picks up after that of the original, and it is clearly not a main focus of the game. It really is a typical sci-fi plot involving a brave human army fending off a massive alien-esque invasion. Oh boy! Still, players who enjoyed the pacing and storytelling of the original Killzone will be happy this time around; you\'ll again take control of Sev, a member of the Legion, and square off against the Helghast. The story is more than an excuse to shoot stuff and, as a result, is typical of most FPSs. Killzone 2 is going to be a story-driven game, and that\'s something nice in a genre where plot has been tossed aside.

The A.I. in Killzone 2 is great, to the extent that you\'re not going to be babysitting your squad mates. Keeping them alive is important (though you\'ll be able to revive them if you get close enough to a fallen comrade), but at the same time they\'ll happily help you out if you\'re in a jam. This title challenges players to be a bit smarter about their gameplay strategy: It\'s easy to die in Killzone 2 and running out with guns-a-blazing is a sure-fire way to get you killed. Taking advantage of cover and outmaneuvering the foe is the way to ensure a victory.

In a market full of FPS titles - some good and some not-so-good - Killzone 2 does have some particularly redeeming features that do a good job of making it stand out from the rest of the pack. The strong, squad-based fighting mechanics are one such item. Another is Killzone 2\'s incredibly meticulous attention to detail. The game is chocked-full of destructible environments, enemy soldiers, and tons of little touches that make Killzone 2 one of the most realistic, life-like shooters out there despite the decidedly sci-fi premise.

The wonderful visuals are a big component of this attention to detail that ensures Killzone 2 will be a blast to play. The game is full of fantastic looking environments, character animations, and particle effects, and the art direction goes a long way in creating a very believable environment for you to play in. From billowing clouds of smoke to hordes of oncoming enemies to the run-down buildings and landscapes that fill the game, Killzone 2 is a great-looking, atmospheric, and immersive title.
This game also deserves recognition for the level design. It\'s not necessarily open-ended; the original was quite a linear title and the sequel isn\'t going to do much different. But the variety of objectives and requirements throughout the game is quite impressive. For those tired of unrelenting "shoot the bad guys" set-ups, Killzone 2 promises to be a breath of fresh air. Whether you\'re jumping in and out of a tank, covering your allies, or sniping long-distance foes, Killzone 2 is sure to be a fun, varied experience.

And once you throw a fully fleshed-out multiplayer mode into the mix, you\'ve got yourself an instant hit. Killzone 2 boasts 32-player online multiplayer matches (sadly, no local multiplayer) complete with ranked and social match-ups. Achievements online are also a huge part of the experience, and there is a wide range of ranks along with specific achievements that you can obtain as you play more. Plus, there\'s also PS3 trophy support, which is great for all those who have a newfound addiction to collecting trophies. Finally, add an intelligent respawn system, more than half-a-dozen maps, several play modes, countless weapons, and an intense squad-based multiplayer shooting mechanic and the game boasts a fantastic online experience.

my main worry about teamates isn\'t them dieing, but when you\'re in a small space and they just shove you out of the way. really killed any AI teamwork that was in STALKER for me, and especially the first mission in COD4.

not really expecting revolutionary gameplay from this game, but i am a graphics whore. not like they can ruin the traditional FPS style that finally works on consoles
