I traded my 6ogb in this afternoon for a slim costing me £70.

fuckers tried to get me with a sting in their tail though, they claimed that I needed the cable for recharging the controllers, and the scart connector for the display cables, even though my PS3 never came with them.

I ended up having to go to the store across the other side of the trafford centre to buy them, costing me an extra 20 quid.

my 60gb didn\'t include a usb cable, I had to use one that came with something else.

the av cable came with it, just not the scart attachment on the end, one of these:



so if I wanted the deal, I had to go and fork out for them myself.

the av connector was only a couple of quid, but the usb a/b cable cost £17, which was a fucking rip off.

oh i see.  Maybe you got the American PS3 that come with composite RCA A/V cables, but that strange that it didn\'t include a usb cable.  It should include a USB a/b cable though unless its an opened item but since you said it refurbished that kind of make sense.

so you go and buy the composite RCA to scarf converter connector for the European SCARF connection.  I agree that the usb cable costing £17 is expensive.  You can get one online costing like $1 to $2.  So yeah, its a rip-off.

The slim does come with the AV cables. But I thought the ps3 came with hdmi but I got composite. I went to Eb games to checkout how much hdmi was and it was 29.99 and i was shocked they wanted 24.99 for the Av cables.

But I ordered the one Vid gave me in the link $5 great deal. I did not have trouble getting the ps3 online either. I know I heard a lot of people have had problems. I was able to get mine online easy.

Currently I am downloading the batman demo. The one thing I am notice that games do take up a lot of space. Man I no when I put games in they require like 3-4 gigs of space

game demo are usually under or close to 1gig. Game install really vary. Some game take 0 KB, some game install is mandatory (SF4) and some takes up 5 gig (GTA4)

The demos are great.  I mean they are stripped down majorly, but it definitely gives you a feel for whether you\'ll like it or not.

That\'s strange that your first ps3 box is missing cables.  Could it be an opened item or used?  but what happened to your console that you have to traded for the refurb?

If your ps3 doesn\'t have a/v cable, then shouldn\'t it make sense to just buy the a/v SCARF cable instead of a converter connector when you traded it for the ps3 slim?  I am confused on this one.

just in case you don\'t know what scart is either, scart is european a/v cable i believe.

it was brand new when I bought it, the cable was just missing.

it developed a problem with the ethernet port while out of warranty where the console wasn\'t detecting the ethernet cable when it was plugged in. I phoned sony and they said it would have to be sent in for repair.

they said the only option was for them to send a refurb because they didn\'t make 60gb\'s anymore, and they gave me a 3 month warranty as well, all for free.

the warranty ran out about 6 weeks ago.

they wouldn\'t accept an av scart cable on its own, it had to be an av cable with scart attachment.

ok.  that answers all my questions and clarify everything.  i have another question though.  why didn\'t you exchange the ps3 box if it was missing cables when you first bought it?
