My personal feelings on the matter are that I think the reason EA is going to XBox is probably the same as last generation. EA is ALWAYS multi-platform. I never expected them to be exclusive to only PS2. EA isn\'t like that. I thought from the day they announced EA \'has interest in the XBox\' I thought they\'d totally develop for them.
As for the XBox. I think this machine will be the best in hardware. I\'m afraid people we must concede and realize it will be more powerful then the PS2, heck it better be more powerful, coming out nearly 2 years after the PS2\'s launch in Japan. They have everything already built into the system so evey develper will probably use the modem and Hard Drive capabilities. Graphics will be more detailed and most likely sharper. I\'m still wondering how much better the added effects like rain, lighting, water, etc. effects are going to compare to the EE in the PS2 (That was what Sony spent so much money on...making it have great effects. just wish developers would take more advantage of it.
Now the question is games. We know PS2 is getting a lot, but how many is XBox getting? With already over 150 announced developers you can expect a lot. Sure that\'s only around half of the PS2\'s over 300 developers but that\'s a good start for just entering the console world. Now that\'s a ton more then the Gamecube has and more than likely Nintendo will delay the system\'s launch and XBox will be released beforehand. I think GC has like 30 known developers. Fortunately they have strong 1st and 2nd party support .
Well, in conclusion I think that the XBox could quite possibly take over the gaming world as the best system, or come to a close second. What I\'m definitely sure about is PS2 will be in 1st or 2nd place at the end of this gaming race. I also personally would like to see the XBodx take over because it really is going to throw out some great games if the right developers go to it. Ease of programming. I think the only thing that can kill the PS2 is its difficulty in programming, and if XBox starts getting more of a userbase and more developers others might jump ship and go right for the ease of XBox developing.
Heck, Square could finally pull off the type of graphics in a game how they want w/o any troublesome programming. I think Squaresoft will definitely bring their FF franchise to the XBox.
PS2 is still gonna have all the games. So for the next few years it\'s going to be my top system. And it will stay that way unless XBox does something about it. I really don\'t see the Gamecube as going to be a very strong contender. Definitely in the kids market because that\'s their strong point (I don\'t want to hear any crap from GC die-hard fans either because it\'s true that most of Nintendo\'s business comes from the kids that play Pokemon). That is my reason for leaving it out of most of the argument. hey, I could end up totally wrong but this is just the way I look at things.
Go PS2 and hopefully the XBox will rock!!!
