Isn\'t Gradius a 2d game, I though the PS2 was really bad at 2D graphics

In-Living-Clip tell me more about the game and why you like it so much, I might pick it up

Omg! Ddaryl, shame on you...Gradius is two 16 bit shooters that Konami released on a package. Infact, Gradius 3 was on the SNES and had slowdown in some stages, and the slowdown is still in the PS2 version! There is no enhanced graphics. Infact, the only enhanced thing is a nice CG movie. You are playing two old 16 bit games on a 128 bit system. But still, they\'re fun! They\'re difficult and addictive. They have you going "one last try". Okay, so maybe not everyone will be excited as me. But keep in mind, I still love those old games, and I love my vertical shooters, so this was natrually heaven for me.

Side scoller shooters DO rock.  Anyone remember Blazing Star on Neo-Geo???  Granted, I can\'t see paying for an old game, but still.  Genres don\'t die, they just stay the same.

Besides, I want Marvel Vs Capcom 2 and SNK Vs Capcom on PS2.  Its very possible that Capcom has been working on those and haven\'t annouced them yet.  PS2 can\'t do 2D very well?   What are you thinking??!?!?!

The VRAM for the PS2 is the problem with holding all the animation and such in for a 2D fighter. Its possible they\'re working on it, but I don\'t know. Capcom seems to be content supporting the DC mostly.

ANimations for a 2D fighter shouldn\'t be no different from animation in a 3D fighter, and futhermore pocedural animations can be done without any animations stored in memory at all, all calculated using the EE. This is the future of the PS2 and videogaming in general, and we will get huge tastes of this in late Gen 2 games and 3rd gen PS2 games

Sorry dude I was following the Grateful Dead in the 80\'s as well as partying a real lot and getting chicks. Everytime I played a Nintendo system in the 80\'s I decided videogames weren\'t for me. I had more fun things to do, I didn\'t get back into gaming until Sega CD, and we know how that turned out but it did make me a Sega fan, it was the PSX that really turned me back on to videogames,

so I most likely will not get Gradius then, I always look forward and rarely back. I\'m not nestalgic in the slightest

I never really liked the gradius series...

Gradius is good, but not worth buying to PS2!

I got Gradius 1, 2 and 3 for my computer in just few minutes!

Why spend 50 dollars for two Gradius?

( BTW the other gradius isn\'t 16-bit. It\'s a new game, released in 98 or 99 was it? )

But I thought of buying it. Still the bundle-pack is weak. it should have had:

ALL gradius games to excistense

LEVEL editor

SPACESHIP editor ( where you can draw your own ships! )

ENEMY editor ( where you can draw your own enemies! )

STORYBOARDS

HISTORY of the games in text format :)

SOME interviews with the makers of the games

and then it would have been worth a buy.

Gradius 3 and 4 are both 16 bit games. I don\'t believe Gradius 4 made it here, at least not on a console. Not to mention what your demanding is simply out of question mostly, but it would be nice. Well, it would of been nice though. *sigh*.  Course, I would of been even happier if they included the first Gradius games. But, oh well. If you want NEW Gradius get the PS games. The new ones was on it. But, I\'m happy with the old ones.:)

Umm isn\'t ps2 a 2D powerhouse?..
Image Processing Performance: 150 million pixels / sec

Pixel Fill Rate: 2.4 giga pixel per second (with Z buffer and Alphablend enabled), 1.2 giga pixel per second (with Z buffer, Alpha and Texture)

Particle Drawing Rate: 150 million/sec

I for some reason, Think it can handle 2D quite well.

I\'m going to have to find the mention in GameFan..Was an older issue. Either way. I doubt the PS has a problem with them, if anything, its no one pushes for 2D games on the PS2. Just like the original PS, at first there wasn\'t many 2D games.

Anyone remember people sayin the original PS couldnt pull off 2D? Then Street Fighter Alpha came around and it was arcade perfect?
