GeForce 3...

When is the GeForce 3 coming out, anyone have a PRETTY GOOD estimate, or even an exact date???

b/c I am in desperate need of a new comp and by the time my dad pays off all the bills for the furniture and the rug and stuff for the new room he\'ll probobly realize that we need a new comp lke everyone does and i want the geforce 3 in it...

does anyone have an estimate price for it?

Some versions of the ge force 3 are out now.  There are some at $469 american.

the leadteck GF3 is out right now in singapore, it is around 700 us dollars but according to the store it will soon be 400 - 500 us dollars

The Geforce 3\'s are already out now. They\'re running from $450-$600+ (US).

I personally would recommend holding off on the purchase of a GF3, and opt instead for a GF2 GTS or GF2 Ultra with 64 MB DDR RAM. They should be in the low $200-$300 very shortly. Their perfomance is just as good, but only cost half as much. It will take 6-12 months before games that actually USE the GF3  architecture and instructions to start showing up in any great numbers.

Keep the cash for the future.

There\'re have been reports of delays ,but the good news is that the price seems to have dropped from 600+ bucks to 399,still expensive but a price drop is a price drop.
However you won\'t really see that much of an improvement until DX.8 games come out.Then the Radeon will also start to shine.And when playing at lower resolutions your performance will be worse than from a GF.2

Yes but DX.8 based games aren\'t,well maybe 1 or two.But it takes time for the games to catch up.

It\'s a complete waste of money currently if you ask me. Unless you absoulty need to play at resoutlions higher than 1280x1024x32 in Quake 3, play Giants and don\'t mind waiting another 4 months for games to come out to take advantage over its new features by all means get one.


But it isn\'t worth if if you are the casual gamer who plays games like Quake 3 at resoutlions lower than 1280x1024 as the GF2 performs just as good if not better than the GF3! I\'d wait and see after 3 months after release. So far reviews have said its not as revoultanary as they expected it being (the 10x more powerful and more framereates in Quake 3 than GF2 nonsence).

Unless Doom 3 requires it, I\'m a happy camper.

Well, since there is really no difference using AGP 4x over 2x, I do\'nt see why 8x would make such a difference.  DX8, however, will boost the graphics and performance of games that take advantage of it.

yes they will take advatage of it, look at Unreal 2 , doom3 , max payne and many other making use of gf3 already. I think gf4 will be the first card that will take advantage of AGP 8x.

You have to ask DR yassam for more info on this.

I was just at another forum I frequent, the Anandtech forums, and there is a thread about AGP 8x.
