The N64 is supposed to be the superior machine, and it\'s not. MGS could never be done on that machine, well, @ 15fps it could have. The n64 had horrendous textures, horrible framerates, and extremely low-polygon usage. I have seen and played almost every N64 game, 99% look horrible. The textures and resolution in Zelda make me sick. Argue all you want, it\'s obvious that you\'ll defend Nintendo @ whatever cost. I have played and seen all, and own most. I don\'t care for loyalty.

And btw, when ppl use that phrase, they mean better hardware, not better graphics. Hardware wise, the N64 is supposed to be superior.

Your alone on this one. MGS was not as good looking as Zelda:OOT or PD. It was too dark and was jaggie loaded. The N64 looked better because of alpha-bending, something the PSX didn\'t have and desperately needed.

Find me a PSX game that looks better than CBFD, and then you\'ll be right.

I sold my N64 to some kid just a week before I got my
PS2.
Overall the N64 dissappointed me in some way. On the
other hand I had some nice gaming times with it.
Like Metal Gear Ray said , if you\'r taste is fighting games, RPG\'s  and stuff like that N64 was a bad taste.

As for the graphics. 1st and 2nd party games had great
graphics and some 3rd party did. Alot of 3rd party ports
sucked bigtime.
But the overall N64 public consensus was I guess that it
had blurry graphics and less fluid animation than PSone.
Ha, alot of ppl even think of the PSX\'s pixelated textures
as stylish.
Technically, on paper the N64 sure had more advanced power. But fact is that it also had less polygon power than PSX at 150.000 versus 360.000 of PSX.
Correct me if I\'m wrong though.
On the other side : Rogue Sq. looked superb.... with that 4MB expansion that is.
Anyhow : Nintendo messed up for me. Hate it when kiddy games dominate a console. So far what I\'ve seen of NGC hasn\'t changed that much.
Imo PSX won that generation.
Now, with XBOX, PS2 and NGC it\'s a whole different ballgame.

Do you even know what alpha blending is?

I don\'t stand alone, and if I do, I don\'t need an army to fight with. Both systems look horrible now, but @ the time, n64 made me puke. Perfect Dark? Oh man, I don\'t know how people could withstand those incosistant framerates. To play a real FPS, get a PC.

You can argue it all you want, because there\'s no definitive answer. One man\'s piece of ****, might be another\'s masterpiece.

I\'m as calm as can be.

And I\'ll leave your comment alone, since we\'re back to the beginning. Frankly I don\'t care for the past.

datamage is not alone on this one. We all know I hatye both of these systems equally, and N64 looks like ass. CBFD was not that good looing IMO. MGS DOES look better that Zelda, because n MGS you could tell what was supposed to be wood, metal etc. on N64 is all the same!

N64 had those trademark blurry textures, where as the PS had trademark jaggies and couldn\'t handle 2D very well.

Seems like a fair trade off to me.

No, I can think of a few notably great 2D efforts, one of the best being the very game your picture comes from :D
