Note from Samwise:

Oh God Jumpman.... I made a HUGE mistake! I was going to quote from your post and accidently hit the edit button instead. I deleted all the text (except for the part I needed) and hit the \'submit\' button. To my horror I saw it was YOUR post, not mine! I\'m so sorry, my mistake! :(

Please forgive me, it\'s late and I\'m so tired. :(

Here\'s Gaming-Age\'s Wave Race impressions(couldn\'t post it above since it was too long):

And th game that everyone has dismissed: Wave Race: Blue Storm-

Quote
Craig plays one of the most anticipated GameCube games and it\'s better than initially expected.

At Nintendo\'s pre-E3 press conference on Wednesday one of the most disappointing games shown on video was Wave Race: Blue Storm (Tentative Title). After seeing what the GameCube could do with Luigi\'s Mansion and Rogue Leader, the quick snippets seen of Wave Race left myself and many others wondering why the game didn\'t look as good.
Flash forward a day. By now my expectations for the game had been lowered. But, as I waited in line for my chance to experience the next generation racer it beczme apparent that I had judged the game too quickly. Nintendo had several kiosks of the game set up strictly for multiplayer matches. Some were set up for 2 player competition and some for 4 player. I stepped up and began playing the 2 player mode with another E3 showgoer. The first track I played was actually a carbon copy from the original Wave Race (the name of the track escapes my mind at the moment, but if you\'re familiar with the game I can safely say it\'s the last track of the game, the one with the ship and the tide that goes out to sea as each lap is made).

The first thing I noticed was how great the game played. As has already been mentioned by Marcus, the GameCube controller is absolutely the best controller ever conceived. It works perfectly for this game and veterans of the original Wave Race will instantly be right at home with the control scheme. Surprisingly NST did not use the analog shoulder buttons for accelerating and braking as I had expected. Instead they are used to assist in turning (ala F-Zero) and the A button is used for the acceleration. New to this game is the turbo. As in the first game your top speed starts out very low, but as you successfully navigate the course by staying on the correct side of the buoys the bar will gradually fill up until you\'re at maximum power. If you fill the bar up even more it goes into your turbo reserve. You can then use turbo by pressing the Z button. The only drawback is that your speed bar will gradually deplete so you must use the turbo at your discretion. I felt very comfortable with the control scheme as it works perfectly with the game. The controller slightly vibrates when riding some of the bigger waves and will react with a severe vibration if you hit land or another immovable object. The analog stick has more resistance than the PS2, which makes navigating even more precise. On a side note, the controller\'s analog stick and C button stick both have a rubber tip to make them feel better and thus there\'s less chance for your thumbs to slide off.

Now, on to the graphics. My entire game play experience so far at the show consisted of playing the 2 player mode. I wasn\'t too impressed with the graphics at this point, but they weren\'t that bad either. The water effects looked amazing, but the actual backgrounds and characters didn\'t look too great. The game ran smoothly without a hint of slowdown. Interestingly, the demo on the show floor only allowed us to play 3 tracks, but everytime the weather conditions would be different so replaying the tracks under different conditions almost resulted in playing a new track entirely. While I was only slightly impressed with the graphics in the multiplayer mode, I soon discovered that behind the area where I was playing Nintendo had 2 stations featuring the 1 player mode. Watching the game in this mode is really impressive. The water effects are better defined and the best seen in a racer yet. One of the tracks takes place on a smooth lake. The water is crystal clear and you can even see the land beneath the water. Not only that, but every single object is reflected in the water. The shoreline, with its beautiful trees and scenery is perfectly reflected in the water as is your jetski. To make the effect even more impressive, as you race around the track your vehicle leaves a small wake. The rippling goes across the water and seamlessly alters the reflections. The effect is so amazing that I found myself staring at the track in awe.

Then we have the tracks with some waves. The waves will vary on each track depending on the weather conditions. As you control the jetski it will spit up water from time to time. This water actually hits the screen as if it was a camera lens to create a fantastic effect of really being there. The animations of the characters are great. As with the last game you will be able to perform all sorts of tricks like handstands and driving the jetski while sitting backwards on the handlebars.

When it comes right down to it, the water effects are the best seen in any jetski game thus far. The track layout seems a bit more refined and they seem at least as long, if not longer than the ones in the original. So far the game is sticking to its traditional racing tracks so if you were hoping that the game would incorporate some tracks like those seen in Hydrothunder, you may be out of luck. The gameplay is spot on and really the only thing that could be improved are some of the characters (they aren\'t very detailed) and the backgrounds (probably the least impressive aspect of the game). The team has 4 months until the Japanese launch to work on the game so many of these issues will hopefully be addressed. No word yet on how many tracks will be in the final build of the game. We\'ll have more on Wave Race: Blue Storm in the future.

And your point is?I mean they are nintendo games,as if they are not going to be good!
I really dont care if the gamecube is good or not,i am very excited about what i saw on the ps2!
And i think you forgot to post what the guy thought of the new MGS2 trailer at ign, because considering the game has been shown before,he was still amazed with it,so that is one game that got the same excitement as the gamcube games, anyway we will see how good the gamecube games are when Tekken 4 is shown, SC2,things like that,i am not dissing gamecube, because i love nintendo games, but it is like you are writting of the PS2.
On the 15 of March 2002, i was going to leave these forums for good.
But on the 16 of March i realised i couldn\'t ever say bye to you guys, so i am staying here for good!

You misunderstood, this topic has absolutely nothing to do with PS2. I was merely stating that Nintendo is really impressing the audience at E3. Some people were all like " GameCube is letting me down" and **** and obviously GameCube isn\'t letting anyone down at E3. In fact, judging from the current impressions, Nintendo is practically dominating E3.

I\'m not writing any console off, I\'m just given the fanboys who said they are let down by Nintendo the impressions from E3 from the people who are they.

The GameCube presentation on the E3 was cool. I saw it on TV. A lot of nice jokes and cool games. What is the name of the new nintendo game? Pik Min or something like this? Sounds like Pokemon and it was not so nice. But the other games! WOW

I think their havig a great show so far. They\'ve surpassed my expectations and they\'re doing a lot better than MS is. I think MS is really struggling...

Yeah, Pikmon looked really gay. I usually don\'t care whether a game appears to be kiddie or not but this one is just too much for me.

Surprisingly enough, it\'s gameplay seems to be great. (well Miyamoto created it so what would you expect? :))

Here\'s what PlanetGameCube thought of it.

Quote
Pikmin is a very engaging game. I definitely need to go back to it to get a better feel for it, but it didn\'t take me long to call up some Pikmin and take down a couple flowers. Once the Pikmin take down a flwer, you get a puck shaped object which they can drag back to their homes to spawn more Pikmin.

The beginning is very simple to play and easy to pick up. Of course, I get the feeling that there\'s a lot more to learn and the gameplay looks to be pretty deep. It\'s easy to build up a nice following in the demo. I got up to 24 Pikmin at once and gleefully ordered them to take down a barrier. There\'s a wonderful feeling controlling a mob of little creatures who will do your every bidding with a simple button press. I suppose it\'s a bit like RTS games in that respect, but the feel of Pikmin is quite different.

The graphics are nice, too. So far environments don\'t seem too complex, but animations, textures, and models are sweet. Controlling the game is mostly done with 2 buttons (A and B) while camera work is done with the shoulder buttons.

I managed to down a few enemies with my army but got too ****y and stayed out as night approached. I soon stumbled upon a large spider like creature and tried to sic my army on it. The result was pure carnage. My poor Pikmin army was reduced to 4 as the day ended. I need to go back to do more and hopefully this time I\'ll keep more alive.

I\'m still waiting for Perfect Dark:Zero, Zelda, and Too Human...

Well, just like STROKE I saw the presentation on TV.I must say that I expected a bit more from the GC (but also from XBox). But it`s too early to make a final judgement on these few and early titles.Star Wars and  Luigis Mansion looked great.
I still  think of getting a GC and/or XBox.My choice will depend on the final line-up of games that will be out at launch.

While I previously stated that I was impressed with Nintendo\'s showing so far, I just found out some horrible news.

I hope Yamauchi gets a metal penis shoved up his brain so someone else can take over his position. F*ck you Nintendo.

Nintendo\'s GameCube software unveiling at E3 was indisputably impressive, offering up a host of amazingly diverse selections including Luigi\'s Mansion, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Eternal Darkness, Rogue Leader, and Wave Race Blue Storm. But there were definitely some no-shows too, probably because Nintendo has decided to wait until Space World to unveil some of its GCN lineup. So which games didn\'t make the E3 cut? We list them below.
E3 No-Shows

Thornado -- Factor 5 is concentrated on Rogue Leader for system debut
Too Human -- Silicon Knights is focused on Eternal Darkness until launch
1080 2 Snowboarding -- Nintendo officially announced it in some of its media assets, but the title was not shown at E3, probably because Left Field\'s NBA Courtside 2002 was
Perfect Dark Zero -- Announced in a roundabout way, but evidently Rare wasn\'t ready to show at E3
Mario GameCube -- Miyamoto says to check out Space World for that
Zelda GameCube (only old footage on display) -- Miyamoto says to check out Space World for that
Resident Evil 0 -- Capcom isn\'t ready to show it
Tekken Tag Tournament -- Namco is still in negotiations with Nintendo on this project
Ridge Racer V -- Namco is still in negotiations with Nintendo on this project
F-Zero -- Some Internet sites reported it was on the show floor, citing released video footage as proof. But the footage was actually just a cut-scene from Super Smash Bros. Melee. So far as we know, F-Zero GameCube does not yet exist.

F*cking dammit. What the f*ck is wrong with Nintendo? They say they\'ll reveal everything at E3 then they say wait until spaceworld, AGAIN! F*ck them. No Thornado, Zelda, Too Human RE:0, or Perfect Dark Zero. That\'s some pretty f*cked up sh*t right there. They could of showed me just one game and I would of been happy but nooooo. They had to hold their most impressive games like littles fags and now I\'m left with sh*t. F*ck this ruined Nintendo\'s E3 in my opinion. Rare, SK, and Nintendo deserve to be shot in the ass for this atrocious, retarded, f*cked up decision. BAH! Eat warm sh*t Nintendo.[/rant]

Nintendo never said they were going to release all the info at E3. They just said that we would have to wait until E3 to see it again and to see some actual software. IMO, this is a smart decision. From the looks of it they have impressed the people at E3 and those people will hype the GCN. Once the hype starts to die down they BLOW us away at Spaceworld. IGN has said MANY times that Zelda is thought by everyone who has seen it to be THE best looking game that has been shown for any console. If that proves true then Spaceworld will send Nintendo hype into the stratosphere.

Don\'t forget that Nintendo is the master of hype. They know what they are doing. At least we get the pricing plan next week.

Errr... just because they won\'t be shown means nothing. They\'ve been announced, and gamers can expect to see shots/videos when they\'re ready.

Get your head out of your ass. I\'m not let down with the show overall, I\'m just pissed that I didn\'t see the games that I really wanted to see. I\'m over it now. Wave Race, Smash Bros, and especially Luigi\'s Mansion and Rogue Leader were enough for me to be satisfied. They still easily had the best show.

Overhyped? Did it have any hype to begin with?

No third-party support?

1. They have plenty of good 3rd parties(Camelot, Capcom, EA, Acclaim, Sega, Midway, ect).

2. I won\'t be buying any 3rd party games for NGC anyways so I don\'t give a **** whether they have 3rd parties or not.

Okay sega, ea, and capcom(only residental evil 0).  But guess what ps2 has all those 3rd parties and more.

That the problem with n64 it was WAY TOO SLOW compared to the ps1 with coming out with games.  I just don\'t what this to happen again with gamecube.
