ok here it is f1 2001 review !

right ive had an hour play so here are my impressions :

10/10 in psw was serverly exaggerated !!!

the graphics are crisp but jaggid egges are apparant on the wheels of the cars. The option of views are not great they dont have a far away view but just a close one. The game is quick with NO slowdown whatsoever. With all the rules on the game is impossible !!. example monte carlo was edged off by button and i hit the  wall and boom wheel damage race over!. The pitting system is great. After a good lap in qualifying u can sit back and watch the rest try beating ur time then u can reapear whenever u want on the track if u wish 2.

A new feature is that if u set the race length 2 10% of the real race laps then qualifying is set at that 2  

example set the race 2 25% the qualifying will be 15 min instead of the 100% 1 hour.

Pit ins are great - timing is superb with the adrenilin feeling as shemacher takes the lead after a slow pit.

The weather is realistic. It could start off sunny the there could be a down poor resulting in a pit stop 2 change tyres - the weather can stay the same or change as it pleases during the race.

also a new feature if u push throttle at the start of the race ur cay actually moves and u are givena 10 second penalty even if u do it by accident.

The replays are really good as well especially in the rain.

The handling is really good as well but will the handling being a bit arcady and the overall game (even will all the  assists on) being 110% simulation there is an inbalance between handling and difficulty.

Ur opponents seem 2 be super good even on amature.

The cars are mega detailed appart from the cars which advertise tobacco which is banned ( hmm ferarri).


The commentator is annoying as per usual although between races is pretty detailed.

my first opinion sum up is below - this will chance after i properly get into the game !!

i just got psw and man this sound and looks excellent. normally i dont like f1 games, i even said this game was gonna be crap, normally they have the worst handling. but i think i will actually get this game, it looks so cool, cant wait

yeah looks amazing plays really good but i was expecting 2 much and was a little disapointed - but with the wheel it will be magnificant 10/10

I\'ve pre-ordered it and playing the demo at the moment and think it\'s great!  Just want to enter the f1 competition i guess!

yeah dont get me wrong it is good but very hard !!!

Some questions:
1) Is there a safety car that comes out for big crashes etc?
2) IS there a \'clutch\' like system so you can rev and not roll forward at the start?
3) How is the \'2 way\' communication with the pits. Or is it just them talk to you?
4) Can you have commentry aswell as the pit crew talking at the same time?
5) Any secrets so far?
6)are lap time realistic?

Maybe more later.

Is the "in car" view the on just above the drivers head.

rlau1980 are you talking f1 competition in F1racing? When i get the game i am going to practice heaps at spa so i can get to the F1 2001 World Championship.

sh!t i had most of the questions answered but i pressed the back button so ill do it quickly

1. view above the car = most realistic
2. lap times very realistic
3. no saftey car at present but no real major crashes yet
4.no secrets yet

thats all i know but ill play it for 5 hours 2day giving u all a better perception of the game.

as i say i had a more indepth reply but i stupidly hit the wrong button and im in a hurry!

A serious question METALGEAR007:

I have the game now but when the intro plays the music in the right speaker of my tv sounds well scratchy
also if you play the credits movie the same thing happens. My TV is used for normal daily use EG. MTV
and has no distortion problems at all. i just wondered if my PS2 soundchip was on it\'s way out, every other game
seems to play fine but F1 2001 just seems to be well distorted even at very low volumes. Can anybody shed
any light on this or has anybody experienced this before..

Thanks MG007. Whilst i\'m posting here i might aswell give my view on this game. bear in mind iv\'e played for
about 30 minutes....

I cannot see how PSW gave this game a straight 10. There is so much room for improvement, The physics stink
and the commentry is just like the original Formula 1 on the PSX. It sounds just way to generic for my liking.
Also the incar sound drives me mad, it\'s like someone scratching their nails down a blackboard. Sorry guys
this is just how i see it, you may feel totally different about
the game than i do. Lets be honest. Most people that will buy this game will be an F1 fan right? Well most
people will have a good knowledge on how a F1 handles, be it through commentry and common sense.
So why the hell does this game let you go at right angles and recover from it. It\'s just pure comical.

Remember iv\'e only played for about 25 minutes so i havn\'t had chance to see the full game.

I apologise for this people, this is just how i see it. If i was PSW i\'d given it a 5/10 (my current rating).
It just doesn\'t live up to it\'s PC counterparts. i very rarely judge a game on initial thoughts but i feel a little
cheated out of £40. I am a regular F1 viewer and like the sport but i just can\'t seem to get to grips with this game.

I\'ll take people opinions and views on this game and see if i can overcome this dissapointment by digging a
little deeper into the game. Sorry doods :0(
