i\'m kinda confused on that part as well...if there are no traditional memory cards,..are we going to be using the hd for all of our game saves?...

Yeah but if there are no memory card slots to accomodate the PS1 and 2, how are we gonna be able to load games and stuff? I bet its gonna be an addon. If that\'s true, that you have to buy something, I\'m just gonna leave the PS2 hooked up next to it for the PS2 and PSX games.

actually, no.  ICT isn\'t good for consumers in any way, imo.  just pointing out the error in what he said.

True,  there should be just 1 version,  the premium version,  but if you look at it 75% of the people who get the PS3 don\'t know what WIFI or HDMI is and will never need those options anytime in the near future (4-6 years.(

They should have released only the premium system with a 20GB HD and sell it at $550 as Eiksirf suggested.  If you want more HDD space addon HDDs should be available.

But as it stands,  I see the $500 PS3 model being the most produced of the 2 models,  reason being that alot of people won\'t need HDMI or WIFI.  The memory card slots hurt, though.  Dumb move by Sony.  If they would have included the memory card slots in the core version it wouldnt be that bad.  Now backwards compatibility is built in it for no real reason.

Agreed. Plus, a lot of the people buying it for their kids are dumbass parents who don\'t know what technology is if it rammed them up the ass. My parents are like that. They doens\'t understand technology. My dad still can barely work the internet. Most parents won\'t know what WiFi are and HDMI and they\'ll just go with what\'s cheaper. Eh, whatever. It ain\'t my money. I got 600 bucks stashed away in my bank for the PS3 jsut waiting for release date.

BTW, any place besides Toys R Us taking orders? One of my best chick friends works at an EB and I\'ve asked her like 10 times already and she told me but keep forgetting.

Same here. My dad also asks me where the freaking play button is on the DVD remote. IT\'S THE BIG FREAKING TRIANGLE!

Haha. My dad can work things like a TV, VCR and sometimes a DVD player (he can get it to play, that\'s the important thing. Now try a grandparent who never even touched a DVD. That is a good laugh). But when it comes to computers, my dad isnt\' really too good. He\'s a lot better than he used to be. I had to teach him how to work e-mail. That was a trip. He can work basic things by himself now but he doesn\'t really know much about advanced things in a computer.

My dad cusses when he closes a browser window. He screams as to why the window is no longer there. He can plumb an entire house, but he can barely work a computer. Meh...

I find it pitiful when older folks can\'t work technology. It\'s stupid. They\'re stuck way in the past and never bothered to care about the changing world around them. I mean...change with the times!

Atleast until they figure out that you can get endless amounts of porn on the internet, then those horny old bastards run out and buy computers and try to work them :)

we\'ve become a society desperately dependent on technology...as long as it works everything is fine,..as soon as the computer system crashes it is a major problem, social security numbers and various other sensitive info are kept on huge databases that can be comprimised at any moment,..people act like they can\'t survive if it weren\'t any cell phones or computers...i think we depend on tecnology a wee bit too much...anybody remember that y2k glitch?...it\'s baffling how those numbers 1999 i think it was,...not sure but it was amazing how programmers was wrecking their brain just get these computers and systems to understand the year 2000......

i remember working loads of overtime maintaining the computer systems while the programmers were stressin\' over that issue...

Nice thread shift :)

I do agree we place too much trust in technology.  If there was a huge EMP that wiped everything out, a la Dark Angel, how many would know how to build a house, hunt & kill for food, plant crops, make fire, use a vibrator, etc...

Yea I know the chances of that happening are next to zilch but I like toying with the thought every once in a while ;>
