I say don\'t take the job unless it pays at least over 40k a year. I had a job that paid me pretty good. I had an hour commute to work. You have to take into account the traffic and your work commute could be well over an hour to and from work.

It will drain you so much. Maybe because I attend college and work. But having to driver an hour or more to get home sucks.

Let me just say that a long commute does suck balls. For a decent job I say it is worth it. I recently had to change my mind on the whole situation. Only because in my field computer science there are no jobs at a 20 minute radius from my home. So I had to think do I want to take this computer job thats 45-60 minutes away from my home.

It\'s either that or wokr somewhere in a job that is not in my field of study. So sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. I know plenty of people that drive and hour to work everyday and thier job sucks.

If the job is in your field I say do it.

Has anybody situation changed yet?....i\'m still at the same job commutin\' just under an hour,...and with these gas prices,...it\'s just gettin\' crazy...i\'m still drivin\' the chevy metro to work...it may do 0-60 in 25 seconds but it\'s great on gas,..:D...but it used to cost me between $16-$17 to fill when gas prices was around $3.28 gallon...now it\'s costin\' me like $22- $23 to fill up,...and the  lexus?....i just throw $45 of premium in there and that\'s it,...my truck(expedition) stays parked in the garage...

Anyway i didn\'t want to turn this into gas thread, i just kind of mentioned it since gas and the commute goes hand in hand,...so has anybody\'s job situation changed? or is it still the same?....

The agency I work for has me on-site about 25 miles away.  Factor in DC traffic and it sucks.

Currently interviewing for two companies based in DC.  Can\'t wait to be car-less and take the metro again. :boat:

Moved within 3 miles of my job in LA.  I ride my bike to work, with gas prices the way they are, its definitely worth it.

Thankfully in the town I live in at school, I can walk or ride my bike anywhere. Only times I need to drive is to the food store, bank and whenever I need to go home. That gets kind of pricey though. To fill my tank now, its like 55 dollars. Gonna suck come summer when I go down the shore often.

Same situation for me. Four miles at the most.
It\'s nifty.

One job I\'m around 30 miles from, my second job I\'m 10 miles from.  School is 25 miles away.  All distances one way, so yea gas is killing me.  I drive 375-400 miles a week.

Have about a 15 minute commute through town to work.  Live in a small town, so I don\'t have any sort of public transit to use... but I only have to gas up once every 2 weeks.

About 4 or 5 years ago I had a 1:15 commute each way... WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN.

Yeah before I moved to Baltimore I was carpooling, so every other week I had an hour or so commute, one way.

Now I\'m lucky enough that I can take the train to work. It\'s longer than by car, but it\'s only $16.50 a week.
