Commute

So how far does everyone commute?  I\'m thinking about taking a job that I\'ll be commuting around 75 miles to everyday, and was wondering what everyone elses commute looked like.

I used to do 50 miles a day, all the way to Maryland to work on-site at client\'s place.  Took the bus to the metro (subway), then walked several blocks and it was just under a 2 hour commute.

75 is borderline crazy but doable depending on transportation and your city\'s traffic.

You\'re young, and you have a job.  Consider moving?  A long commute can literally kill your day, drain your wallet, and affect your work.

I live 28 miles from where I used to be employed.  I still do stuff there a lot, but at least I can now write the mileage off. It was no big deal, but make sure you get enough money to justify the extra time you spend traveling.

When I worked in the SJ office, it was about a 40 mile commute one way, then 40 miles back so 80 miles everyday.  Trust me, you do NOT know the horrors of that.  Public transportation, driving, nothing about that commute was ever good or could be spun into a positive thing.  I cracked after 4 months and got transferred to the SF office.  I now get home in 30 minutes at the very most.  The money saved and the time regained are just astronomical.

My company is moving fifteen minutes down the road, so my commute will be like 60, 70 minutes each way.  *shudder*

like going 100 yards in a car is an advantage? lol

I go about 7 miles to school.

Seems like 75 miles is a bit nuts. But like vid said, make sure you get the money to make up for it if you go through with it.
