Is Crash in Danger ?
« on: June 12, 2001, 03:41:00 AM »
These recent screens I have seen of the new Crash game look just horrible. I understand how still images can be decieving but these are really rough. I really thought crash would go to the next level on this new and powerful system but it appears he is going to stick with the tried and true platform style (not always a bad thing) well here are the screens, what do u guys think ?

this one doesn\'t actually look that bad, maybe it is the capture software

yikes maybe it was there software the 2 pics i initially looke at were complet garbage, but still this game isnt impressing me as being left in good hands at all.

The bottom line is this:  How can developers let their games go out on the PS2 with this kind quality?...It is these kind of games that gives me a bit of embaresment that I have a PS2.

We can just be f**kin lucky that there are developers that makes games like MGS2, GT3, THPS3,etc.  The funny thing is that there will still be tons of people that will buy this game because of the good marketing that was done for Crash when it started, and because of that this series will still keep going.  Look what marketing has done for Army men this and Army men that....all just good marketing.....that ends up stuffing us gamers around.

Jak and Daxter is definitly the platform game to arrive on the PS2 that will make our jaw drop....thank God!!

This game is still early in development and those are crappy pics. Still, there is no impressive features, he still looks like a drawing.

That is a good question.  Why do developers bother to release crap?  It is just a waste of time and money to release these kinds of games.  And they would actually make money if their games are good.  So, why bother releasing crap?

Actually thanks to Sony\'s marketing muscle Crash is one of the most recognizeable game mascots out there. So making a Crash game is a decent financial decision because people will buy it on name recognition alone.

Jak and daxter is one of the best if not the best looking games i have seen. I personally think the graphics are better than mgs2. This could be due to the vibrant color pallete though and we wont really know until they are running on our televisions
What I want to know is if anybody is getting excited about ape escape. I don\'t know what it is but i just thought that it was like the best ps1 game of all time. It was long, had original gameplay, a hilarious story and personality to spare. I really hope that this one even one ups jak and daxter in terms of gameplay and graphics. Please don\'t let us down sony !

dawid22, I agree w/you 100%

I don\'t understand the logic behind handing over some of the best games to 1/2nd party Sony developers who ruin the game.  Some examples:[list=1]
  • Twisted Metal 3 - 989
  • Twisted Metal 4 - 989
  • Gameday - 989
  • Gamebreaker - 989
  • Cool Boarders 3 - 989
  • Crash - (whoever the hell it is...It doesn\'t matter what their name is)

Yeah, I agree.  My first Twisted Metal game I bought was TM3.  When playing it I could not understand what the people was going on about??....I then played TM2 a few weeks after that and realized how brilliant the game use to be.

It all depends on developers if the game is going to be good or if it is going to suck.  This is why I always say "Consoles mean nothing, it is the games that are made for them that make them".  The only reason the PS1 did well is because of it\'s excellent games.  Think of this: The PS1 took out Sega Saturn, N64 and a bit of the Dreamcast (and in the beginning it even took out it\'s older brother, the PS2).

The PS2\'s games are currently not looking to good but the future is looking bright.  Sony is also one of the best marketing companies in the world.  In South Africa, no one knows that the Xbox or Gamecube excists...why you ask me?....because Sony has been in the marketing game longer than Microsoft and Nintendo does not have a fan base here........Sony has made a name for themselves.

Because of their good marketing, the PS2 will come out on top.....but the games better improve to keep it there.

I think an Australian developer should take it over.
