I\'m not reading these three pages of drivel, but I was wondering who in the world would vote Americans? Our accents have come originally from all of you bastards in other countries. Unless you put down redneck american or something as a choice and narrow them down.

We have so many freaking accents in this country that you can\'t just write America. I don\'t even have an accent as most Floridians don\'t.

Vid, get off your high horse. Of course you have an accent.

Americans accentuate their "R"s for example, where as the British don\'t. So there, you have an accent. An accent is purely the way in which you speak, which is relative to where you are born/brought up etc.

You only have an accent when you compare it to somthing else. IE - Australians talk flat, but its only noticable when you compare it to a British accent or something thats stronger.

EVERYONE HAS AN ACCENT.

And Americans accents come from everything else? no way man, your seriously twisted if you think you Yanks got your accent from other countries.

You\'re right Racer. I think Videoholic is comparing himself to the way people speak on national television programs in the US. This is supposed to be our "ideal," but in fact it\'s very odd sounding compared to the way other people in the world speak English.

I am sick of american accents, including our bland television accent. I like hearing people speak English in an unfamiliar way. I like talking to my friends from Ireland and New Zealand. I like watching Sling Blade and listening to Billy Bob Thornton and Lucas Black speak in that pseudo Arkansas accent.

If there\'s any accent I really HATE, it\'s that dumb airheaded, incompletely educated, snobbish, UCLA sorority girl accent. The movie "Clueless" contains a glimpse of the accent I\'m talking about, but the reality is so much more excruciating! When I hear it I just want to KILL!!!!!

this question goes out to all non-west coasters in the US. Do u guys think Californians have accidents? Because some of my friends and i were discussing this, and we think that we don\'t have any distinguishing features in our speech, other than saying the word "like" left and right.

I\'m sorry but yes you do have one. All americans sound damn similar to me no matter where they are from in the US. This is because I\'m from a different country where our accent is different.

No, I would say that californians don\'t have an accent. I\'m talking true Californians. Not minorities....

One of our hosts I\'m working with this weekend is from CA and she has no accent.
