That would be funny, but we already know that XBox is dead in Japan. If it got some games out maybe it could be revived to the point of an Iron Lung or other life-support. But sadly, the games aren\'t there.

one good thing out of all this: NBA2K2 for PS2 entered the charts at #25! Yeah! :D

Why did they buy it?  There aren\'t any games right now that weren\'t out earlier...this is odd but it does show a spec of light in a rather doomed sky for Xbox in Japan.  Perhaps there is still a chance...

they bought it for the same reason they did at launch, DOA3.
And its sad that with a 80 dollar price cut, they only managed to find 6 thousand extra buyers.

So I take it I\'m not on your ignore list anymore?  lowers head and says I missed you!!

That 6 thousand extra buyers is mighty impressive compared to the couple thousand (if that) the Xbox has been racking up.

And about the low sales last week, could everyone have been waiting for the price drop?

I wouldn\'t be suprised...I think Xbox\'s saving grace could be Project Ego, Shenmue II, or even panzer dragoon.  That\'s besides the point...

Exactly.  We shouldn\'t be laughing at Microsoft\'s 900 sales, but instead, we should be laughing at the 900 idiots who bought an Xbox a week before the price was dropped.

And haven\'t we had enough of these sales threads?  The Xbox is selling fairly well in the US and in Europe (compared to the NGC at least ;)), so why even bother posting the Japanese sales?  Is it mandatory for the survival of the Xbox, a US based and US targeted console, to do well in Japan?  I don\'t think so.

GF: The Xbox is having trouble in Japan - does the Japanese market still dictate success in this industry, especially with the emphasis there on RPGs?

Vic: Sure. Generally speaking, you fail there, you\'re dead here eventually. The last time that wasn\'t completely true was the Genesis, but that was a LONG time ago. Most platforms post-Genesis have relied HEAVILY on Japanese software, and a poor showing there does not bode well for a platform\'s future.

see\'s this thread going somewhere nasty...

Well, a few exclusives would probably come about if the Xbox was well accepted everywhere.  It would make the console more attractive...it will survive regardless, just not as well.

How are those Europe numbers?

BTW, speaking of overseas support.  What ever came of Soul Calibur 2?  Is it PS2 only now?

Yeah, xbox may be selling like **** in Japan but I think things are looking good for it in a whole.  Xbox had a better E3 than PS2 did.
