I love VF4, but the graphics do leave much to be desired.

w00t!  Gameplay makes a game.  Graphics are superficial!

Graphics are important to me; they\'re almost as important as gameplay.

Huh?!!Is it THAT much inferior compared to the arcade???

I have a DVD with the arcade trailer and a demo disk from OPM which shows some PS2 footage of the game and I really havent noticed much difference. The first and most noticable thing are the jaggies from what I saw.I really havent noticed any major difference except from the jaggies.

Unicron, I suggest you play VF4 for yourself and come up with your own assessments of the game.

play the helicopter level (Jacky\'s), particularly with Lei Fei and Lau Chan and you will notice big discrepancies in the lighting, shimmering, flow of characters clothing, etc. PS2 Hardware could never recreate a game which uses NAOMI 2 to it\'s fullest, tons of texture memory, 6 (I think) light sources, etc. all at 10 million polys fully lit and textured! I say PS2 did a pretty damn good job doing it, though.

Yeah, it\'s pretty much what Altered says.

mm, you use graphics tart as if it\'s somehow a bad thing.  Graphics are very important in terms of atmosphere, immersion and overall enjoyment.  Graphical problems take me out of the game, remind me that I am playing a game, and sometimes impede progress/fun factor.

You say you have high expectations, why not insist on the whole package?  Great story, great gameplay and great graphics ALL go together to make a great game.

On the subject of VF4 I guess I can sum it up like this: The PS2 version was done as well as it could be and Sega was pretty good at hiding the differences between the Arcade version and the PS2 version. But of course, a train eye will see that the Arcade version is massively superior on a technical basis.
Here lies a super cool sig

In VF sites seems they dont have a trained eye when they said its an arcade perfect port.Oh well.I was fooled:(.Better trust my eyes than theirs.

they mean in gameplay, my friend. I don\'t think you would care, anyway, an SPoD looks good even in flat-shaded polys :)

well my thing is [and many will share my opinion]

arcade port or no port, it is always going to be gameplay over graphics.
