In the minoroty in THIS forum, but in many multi-format forums (for example Edge Online) most people agree that the N64, overall, had better games.

It\'s all about opinion I suppose....but, mm, care to mention WHY psx>n64? You don\'t seem to give a reason...:)

i told you

PSX had more A+ titles (and a superior controller), that is why PSX > n64

thru sheer numbers alone, the PSX had more A+ titles

it embarrising for anyone to think otherwise, even blade agrees, and he has nintendo tatooed on his left ass cheek

remember nintendo\'s moto "quality over quantity"

perhaps if they didnt charge 15$ for thier proprietary carts, they would have had more titles

basically they screwed themselves by staying proprietary, WAIT A MINUTE!  they still do!
:)

OK, I know you said psx had more A+ games, but I want you to name them...or at least, tell me more of them then I said about the N64...

btw-I\'m not saying the N64 is better than the PSX at all-the PSX had far more GOOD games, but I just feel the N64 had more amazing games, if you get me.:)

like i said, i couldnt be bothered to list 100 A+ titles or ever 20, but im sure youll find very few people to say there wasnt, and even less to say that the N64 had more

N64 was an utter dissapointment.  Framerates were terrible.  Graphics were flat and blurred to hell.  PSX  was the only good system that generation.  Sure, the N64 had some good titles, but nothing like the PSX had.

What? Hello Zelda? That is one of my, and many others, favorite game of all time. Metal Gear may be more mature, but it has about an eigth of the gameplay...nice pretty cutscenes, mind...

Arr, what do you all know.

n64>psx

I owned both, and I got a lot more use out of the 64.  There were tons of titles that I thought were great, but were overlooked on the 64.

I would also like to smack WatchDog for saying that the PSX was the only good system last generation. HELLO? The SATURN? It may of not been a commercial success, but it had more than its fair share of AAA games.

CS2x, to even think you might be in the majority just because a few "multi-format" forums is really sad. Just looked at sales numbers alone and maybe you\'ll notice for yourself, why the PSX flatout outsold the N64. But yeah, you\'re right... "we" are in the minority I guess...

I can understand how a Nintendo fan would prefer his systems over others, but leave the "minority" out of it.

The above arguement should have settled this, but I will list some of the games that I feel were good.

*HELL YES, I\'M BORED... so here it goes:

  • Ace Combat 2 (was pretty good, IMHO, rating were also quite good)
  • Ace Combat 3
  • Ape Escape
  • Bushido Blade
  • Bust a Groove
  • Carnage Heart
  • Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
  • Chrono Cross
  • Civilization 2
  • Colin McRae Rally
  • Colin McRae Rally 2.0
  • Colony Wars
  • Colony Wars Red..
  • Command & Conquer: Red Alert (might have been bad to play with the controller, still a great game)
  • Crash Bandicoot (first of its kind, fun entertaining game)
  • Crash Bandicoot 2
  • Crash Bandicoot 3 (rehash, still a good game none the less)
  • Crash Team Racing (some of the few fun racers on PSX)
  • Dead or Alive (compared to slow Tekken, this pretty good: IMO better than Tekken 3)
  • Dino Crisis
  • Dino Crisis 2
  • Die Hard Trilogy
  • Driver
  • Einhänder (nice shooter)
  • Fear Effect
  • Fifa games (to many to list)
  • Final Fantasy Anthology
  • Final Fantasy Chronicles
  • Final Fantasy IX
  • Final Fantasy Tactics
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Final Fantasy VIII
  • Forsaken (I liked this game a lot)
  • G-Police (very cool futuristic fighter sim)
  • Gran Turismo
  • Gran Turismo 2
  • Grandia
  • Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
  • Madden series
  • Medal of Honor
  • Medal of Honor Underground
  • MediEvil I
  • MediEvil II
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Moto Racer 2
  • Need for Speed
  • Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit
  • Need for Speed 4: High Stakes
  • Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed
  • Nightmare creatures II
  • Nuclear Strike (I loved this one.. reminded me of Desert Strike on Amiga)
  • Oddworld
  • Parappa da Rapper
  • Quake II
  • Ridge Racer
  • Ridge Racer 4
  • RC Stund Copter (okay, not really a "game", but quite a cool helicopter sim)
  • Resident Evil (& Directors Cut)
  • Resident Evil 2
  • Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
  • Silent Hill
  • Spyro the Dragon (nice Platformer)
  • Star Ocean: TSS
  • Street fighet...
  • Suikoden
  • Suikoden II
  • Syphon Filter
  • Syphon Filter 2
  • Tekken 2
  • Tekken 3
  • Tenchu
  • Tenchu II
  • Time Crisis
  • Tomb Raider
  • Tomb Raider II
  • Tomb Raider III
  • Tomb Raider: last Revelation
  • Tomba! (1&2)
  • Tony Hawk\'s Pro Skater
  • Tony Hawk\'s Pro..2
  • Tony Hawk\'s Pro..3
  • Wipeout 2097
  • Wip3out
  • V-Rally
  • V-Rally 2
  • Xenogears

87 titles I listed here - some are arguable, some I didn\'t even bother listing. The sad truth is, most games I\'ve listed here, don\'t even have a counterpart on the N64. If anyone wants to add to this list - feel free, although I think that should really settle this arguement.

Oh and for what it\'s worth: I made that list with a friend and we checked through the scores it received from various sites and magazines. Most of them are games with over a 85% rating.

All those games are good (some are very questionable though, especially Crash and Tomb Raider, which I hate) but IMHO, not one can match the magic of Zelda.

Maybe I\'m just an ond-fashioned gamer, and my tastes are different to many here...after all, who else\'s favorite PS2 game is Rez or Ico?

In this generation, the PS2 currently offers the best choice admittedly...but I can tell now, as soon as SMS arrives, my PS2 will (for the first time) begin to gather lots of dust :D

(and yes, I have played it)

Personally, I think FFVII is the all time greatest... but FFX comes damn close of topping it. :) Hmm, admittedly (sp?) I haven\'t played neither Rez or ICO, but I sure will once I get a chance to...

Oh and enjoy SMS when you get it... I wouldn\'t mind getting it myself, but I unfortunately don\'t own a GameCube.. but who knows, maybe I\'ll add one to my collection some time.. :D

*just noticed you forgot to list Mario Tennis on your list.. that was one hell of a fun party game ;)

Personally I got a lot more enjoyment out of my N64, despite my being a veritable PSX fanboy, for the few years I had one before finally shelling out for an N64.

Wave Race 64
Mario 64
Pilotwings 64
Goldeneye
Mario Tennis
Mario Golf
OoT
Majora\'s Mask
Conker\'s...
Perfect Dark

The real, surviving stand-outs of my PSX stuff are probably Abe\'s Oddysee and Wipeout 2097 (among MGS, FFVII et al). And I never really returned to them like I have with the N64.

I think there\'s a more juvenile mentality clocking over when the \'maturity\' of Nintendo is considered such a huge deal. A large part of it is simply self-consciousness, and nothing to do with the actual quality of the game.

I owned a saturn before my PSX.  I loved it, but the public didn\'t.
