And I can do area effect dmg for 6k dmg :)

What does it matter? FFXI isn\'t quite in real time either.. but it\'s still a MMORPG correct? You got online.. met with a party of 4 to 8 other player in the tavern and explored a massive dungeon together.. meeting other partys and players durring your journey who are also in there fighting.

Yeah, it wasn\'t as great as EQ (a game which came out YEARS afterward) but what the hell do you expect from a game in 1991 running on 386\'s with 2400 baud modems?

My main is a monk on Tunare, hes lvl 46 right now, but I can\'t get on cuz I need some people to get my password back.


I can get you some Polished Steel Ulaks, your sashes and when I sell some of my caster stuff I should have about 500 platinum for you.


Oh and do you have Luclin?  I can get you a weapon that will let you hit for 20-40 points every 2.3 seconds.

Ulaks? Luclin? I just figured out that I CAN kick. I was punching Gnoll Pups for what seemed like forever. I\'m finally up to level 3 and I\'m killing them in 2-3 hits. I feel so powerful. :D

4 to 8 players is not a mmorpg. And FFXI looks real time enough for me.

Nope, I dont have manaburn... wizards have manaburn.
Im a magician, our single target DD spells is about the same as Druids DD spells... kinda sucky :/ I also have a lvl 36 iksar Shaman. Very cool class, but I got tired of the game and quit :/ Waiting for EQ2 now, so I can explore new areas , try new classes and be a fresh n00b again :)

Really.. so then what is party size limit which determines weither a game is RPG or MMORPG? I\'m sure there\'s a limit to party sizes in EQ.. as when was the last time you saw a army of hundreds of players all the same group? Even if FFXI, the limit to party size is roughly 16 members.. at it\'s max.. and they\'re not even really in your party, but in your alliance.

What I see as making the game a MMORPG is a persistant world where different parties can meet up while each persuing their own goals, as well as the overall goal of the game. Yes, you could only have max 8 people per party.. but you had noumerous different partys exploring the SAME dungeon at the SAME time.. and being able to interact. That\'s what makes a game a MMORPG.. not party size.

FFXI isn\'t realtime, but not quite turn based either. As soon as you target a enemy, you enter combat and your char goes into "Autopilot".. attacking automatically. You could sit the controller down and go take a piss.. come back.. and have won the battle. That\'s not real-time to me.. but it does have real-time elements via a menu where you can trade off a rounds attack for say, magic, item use, special attack.. ect.

thats how most MMORPG\'s are!
