welp, i\'ve added the Arctic silver 3 too my cpu. I\'m getting 41c and it gets up too 44c when playing games.. It\'s what i wanted. VERY good for my processor.. This is the first day too, It\'s meant to drop another 2c to 5c over the next 75 hours etc. So hopefully it gets lower.  I think the gel i was using had a air pocket. So it was trapping heat. :/

U using a P4?  That\'s high for a P4 isn\'t it?  My T-bird runs 48c at idle.

i\'m using a Athlon XP not p4.
I\'m also looking into getting a new Sink/fan, The Thermaltake Volcano 7+ is looking pretty good to me. :)

Got great reviews at lots of sites. One of the top rated sinks. Costs a fair bit though for a sink.

But, but §ôµÏG®ïñD you told me not to get a AMD and you got one yourself. Hmmmmm! ;)

My CPU temp right now is 35C.. When I play games it can go upto 45 or so, but I still don’t have any case fans so Im using a Table Fan to get ventilation (with the case open of course) :D

Oh and Im getting my GPU today so I\'ll see if my games "freezing" problem gets better.. :)

Yeah you told me that when you worked with computers alot of customers came back with fried AMD processors.. :)

To be on the safe side I got a heatsink that was good for 1.7GHz for my 1.6GHz CPU.

yea they still do, usererror mostly.. Morons don\'t install there own sinks properly.. half of them don\'t even use thermal gels.. classic.

mm, there\'s a difference from overheating and getting hot. My processor may get warm/hot. But it\'s never overheated. I\'m using a standard sink that came with my processor.. I BET your not hmm. My cpu sits idle at 41c and 44-45c while playing games.. that\'s 7c more then yours.. not much man. When i get my new sink, It\'ll drop a fair bit more.

There\'s thermal diodes on the new mbs now... My mb doesn\'t have a thermal diode, but does measure the temps.. So if my cpu were to get above 65c. It\'ll shut off my comp. I run my machine 24/7 only to turn it off when i play around with hardware etc... Hasn\'t shutdown on me yet. :)

think of it this way

you pay 20,000 for a mustang for a reason
you pay 10,000 for a geo for an entirely different one

define "do it up to the max"

you could end up spending more than the cost of both of them
