I\'m wondering what Gels you guys use?
Has it made much improvement etc?
I\'m getting Arctic Silver 3 Gel in around 2 days.. Hopefully it\'ll lower my cpu temp.

When i got my CPU I got the sink supplied with it. Normaly as far as i know, AMD don\'t supply Sinks with there processers. But they have started to supply them. My sink is pretty big. A tornado sink and fan are meant to be good. My cpu runs lower they my mates one with this sink or fan combo. So i\'m sure my sink is kewl. I just need better thermal gel. :)

I always wondered whats a good temp, mine always seems hot, I think it was 53c or somthing.

Artic Silver 3 is the best thermal paste.
Good temps for an Athlon are around 100-120 degrees farenheit.

I have a crap heatsink/fan and my thermal paste is all dried up and wasted so I get around 150-160 once even reaching 180 :eek: :eek:

Is there a good program to check temp?  I know I saw it in my bios, but don\'t know if there is a quick way to get the temp.

Your comp probably isn\'t a p4 or Athlon Xp...  Mine runs at 49c Gets up too 54c when coding or playing games. I wanna try to get it around 45c. For Athlon Xp processers mine is already pretty good.

Vid, Don\'t worry about your cpu if it\'s intel. Intel based boards have thermal diodes that stop power being pushed through the cpu when they get hot.. Amd don\'t, so AMD processers can fry. There are programs around that tell you your cpu temp in desktop. I got mine with my motherboard.. Try looking at your MB manufacture website and they may have a program.. There designed for certain chipsets etc.

I have P4, 2.4 so it\'s got a fair share of clocking it does.  I really don\'t notice any slowdown, perhaps I\'m use to it.  What\'s most effective in lowering the temperature?

You speak of the threshold on my processer.. my shut off temp is around 60c. Athlons Xps are always hotter then p4s. The rate u want a Xp to sit at is around low 30s to high 40s. :)

There\'s programs that allow u to see your MB and CPU temps. The program i have came with my mb.  Check your MB manufature\'s site. They may have a program there.
