Really depends on the car... A skyline or commadore VL can be done up quite nicely and not cost as much as these cars.

yer missing the point

the moral of this entire thread is, you get what you pay for

if you want speed, go intel
if you a cheaper, alternative solution, go AMD

lol.. Ok, now i know Intel are ahead in speed. BUT between a 1.8p4 and a 1.8xp i\'d choose the XP.. That\'s my point. :)

actually, the new rdram is 1066mhz (2x 533 system bus)

nope, RIMMS are stable like a rock

only downfall, is the price

another problem is u need them in matching pairs :( I\'ve heard there\'s new ones that work in single sets, but are hard to get.
Rdram is slowly being removed from motherboards.

Seems some websites sell kingston Rdram Rimms for around $345.75 usd per one, That\'s 256MB 1066MHz by the way.. I payed 145USD for Kingston PC2100 DDR 512meg. I don\'t know how well RDram performs, but you would hope u could tell the difference between the two.

the difference is outstanding

yes, intel said they will drop RDRAM (only cause its proprietary)

345$  no way.

try a little over 100$ for a 256m stick of 1066 rdram

512 2100 DDR goes 99$ today

speeds:
rdram - 1066mhz
2100 ddr - 266mhz

you tell me what to think

You want a quality stick, kingston = quality = expensive.. Sure i could have gotten a cheap arse stick of DDR. But life time warrenty is a good thing.

I doubt games get much benifit from RDram, bottle necks as such. The cores on the gpu cards only allow so much bandwidth. But atleast your apps will be faster... Ohh and DDR is up too 400mhz, Kingston are up too 333mhz. My mb supports 333mhz, but i\'m using 266mhz. Also the FSB on processors will be making bottle necks for any mem above there FSB size. Although they have probably tweaked and played around with different ways of getting maximum bandwidths.

So it\'s like buying a 16x agp card and using it on a 4x agp slot..  This is just a example. There\'s no 16xagp cards yet.

512MB 266MHz DDR PC2100 Reg ECC DIMM CL2.5 $179.00  Straight from the kingston site.

256MB RIMM4200 1066MHz 32-bit ECC RIMM $208.00  Straight from the kingston site...

hmmm, but if i did notice a difference in gaming, and i was gonna get a P4. I\'d probably go for Rdram.

life time warranty?

yer only gonna use that ram for what, two years max?

kingston is high priced generic ram

mushkin or crucial is what you want

no bottleneck for me, 448mhz system bus= 2ghz P4

regardless, rdram will reach speeds ddr can only dream of

For now maybe, But RDram is dieing. MB makers aren\'t using it like they used too..  This ram will be used for a long time. It\'ll be passed down like all my other mem. My gf is using my old PC133 512 Meg ram stick and a PC100 128meg stick. I\'ve had it for 512 for around 2 years, and the 128 for around 3 years now.

Having a lifetime warranty gives me leeway in over clocking. if I fry it, they won\'t know how, I’ll bs and get it replaced. Have with the stuff other people over clocked. I won\'t be over clocking it though. Want to get a mem cooler first. Sure I’ll be changing mem here and there, but not for a while.

I\'m not saying RDram isn\'t better. Faster is always better. but as i see it, it\'s dieing... Soon you\'ll be restricted to certain mbs.

ps. I thought u had a 1.8p4 over clocked.

The FSB on my processor is 266. So I’m not wasting any money. :)

I\'ll upgrade to a 2.6ghz. ATM my mb supports up to 2.6+ xp processor then I\'ll probably go intel if they get cheaper, or if AMD make processors to intels standards. I mean same speeds etc, or I’ll get what ever I can with what I’ve got.
