Yeah, I heard that too.  That\'s why he\'s the GM.  He can say things like that, no matter how much it might hurt.

I would be much more understanding and probably not care as much if this was the regular season. This was the playoffs for shitsakes.

Everyone always points fingers at coaches, athletes, managers, and owners. rarely are the refs and officials under fire. Its time for things to change.

DAMN IT!!! Too bad I wasn\'t around the computer earlier, that way this post won\'t seem so late. But it is ohh well.

35-14, if the Giants were really as great as they think they were, that\'s how the game would of ended or worst.

Ohh, but now I read the Giants were screwed because of that call. *Takes one second to feel sorry for them*. Yeah, it sucks to lose a game, especially if they had the opportunity to win. But, they didn\'t. The penalty was called, and it doesn\'t matter anymore. Besides, that bad call by the officials is nothing compared to the way the niners came back into the game.

I read some posts, not all of them, I was amazed to see people call T.O. a clown and all those names. T.O. is the best wide receiver out there, if he scores then why the hell shouln\'t he be able to celebrate?

It\'s a game, in a game you have fun, without any fun then it isn\'t a game.

I think football is gettin a little carried away with the taunting penalties. Like T.O. said, if you dont like it stop him. Nobody has, and if there is any player that behaved like a clown during that game was shockey, throwing water at the fans and having his little tantrums. Im glad he wasn\'t allowed to play like the big boy he thinks he is.

It was a cluttered ending to an exhausting game, but the 49ers didn\'t apologize Monday for their victory. After all, they\'re still convinced that Ahmed Plummer intercepted a pass by Kerry Collins two plays before the botched field goal.

"When Pereira called 49ers coach Steve Mariucci to explain the league\'s statement, Mariucci\'s response was sarcastic: "Bummer.\'\'

Actually, Mariucci thought Okeafor would be called for pass interference in the moments after the play occurred -- but when no penalty was called, he joined his team in the celebration.

"That\'s the way it goes,\'\' Mariucci said. "What do you want me to say? Just like coaching and playing, in officiating, there\'s never going to be a perfect game.\'\'

"bummer"<
The game should of been over anyways with the interception.

One New York team down, one to go.

4 ways to tell if you\'re a real fan:

1.) Always thinks his team is going to win, never thinks otherwise.

2.) Cheers for his team even if they seem to be playin like a bunch of 8th graders.

3.) You don\'t give a damn about stats, or how good the other team is said to be, you believe your team is going to twin and if they don\'t, well there\'s always next year.

4.) NEVER makes up excuses for his teams loss, a loss is a loss.

That\'s to all of you guys that said I should be so sure about the niners winning. I would of replied earlier but I was shacking from the tension and I was too happy to even think of turning on my computer. :D

GO NINERS!!!

Thanks for reitterating everything people said in the last two pages about it. You obviously didn\'t read many of the last 50 posts in this topic, despite what you say.

How about you actually read the topic before you come out saying dumb, unbacked statements. Oh, and I\'m SURE that you\'ve never been mad over a Niners loss. See, Your man Mariucchi isn\'t the only man who can be sarcastic.

See Yuz.
What do Kerry Wood, Mark Prior, Matt Clement, and Carlos Zambrano have in common?

They\'re the pieces to the next great pitching rotation of our time, what else?

GO CUBS!

I said I didn\'t read the posts. But, **** it im a Niner fan, and I just couln\'t live with myself without posting something up about the game. Sorry if it bothered you. Yeah, I\'ve been pretty pissed off about the Niners losing before. I just didn\'t go all crazy and try to justify it by blaming it on bad penalty calls.

Mystiq...I told myself I wouldn\'t insult another person in this thread as I did to LIC...but you are REALLY pushing it.

Don\'t you ever, ever, even think about telling me what it means to be a real fan.  Never.  You got that?

And that post of mine you quoted still makes sense.  What you said was that if the Niners win, it won\'t be by luck.  Considering the NFL made a public statement saying the Giants were screwed out of the game, something that is extremely rare, and almost never happens, says something.  It was luck...don\'t try to deny it.

Owens was talking, nothing more?  He hit a player 5 seconds after a play ended.  That is more than talking.  What shockey did was an accident.  Afterwards, he personally apologized to the fan, and signed a football for the fan.  He hadn\'t meant to throw the water into the crowd, and he took responsibility for it.  Sounds like a stand up guy to me.

And everyone there thought it was a pass interference call.  And it should have been.  Rightfully, this game should not be over yet.  The NFL has only made public statements apologizing for a play a couple of times in its history.  When it does, you know something went very wrong.  And in this case, it did.

And about Owens, he is neither the most talented WR, or the best.  Those titles go to Moss and Harrison respectively.  It\'s just that Sehorn can\'t cover a good WR to save his life, and the Giants stupidly refused to have Allen or Peterson shadow Owens.

This game was a joke.  The officiating was a joke.  The play was a joke.  The shit that went on after the plays was a joke.  Anyone to consider this thing a great game...I\'d question their standards.  This game was a joke on all sides of the ball.

And if you honestly think those 4 things are what makes a good fan, then I pity you.  You have no idea what being a fan is all about.

I have always said that officiating doesn\'t decide games, except in extreme cases.  My example for that has always been the Roy Jones Jr. match in 88.  Well, when there is a public apology, it is extreme.  Officiating is far from the only reason the Giants lost, but it sure was one of em.

Hmm, people just may cal him a clown because he showboats the most when its plain as day obvious he isn\'t the best reciever in football.  And theres a difference from celebrating and delivering a late hit over 3 seconds after the whistle.  Theres no explaning that and I love how nobody even trys to.

Shockey is trash, TO is worse.  If you think Shockey is that bad obviously your view on TO is clouded by you being a 49er\'s fan.  Must I mention again the trash late hit he gave.  Taunting is one thing, what TO does is another.

Pity me all you want.

Yeah, there is more to being a fan than those four things. If you don\'t think thats right, then more power to you. I believe what I said, and you can insult me as much as you can shockwaves, they\'re just words. I don\'t belive in the "act how you talk" way of thinking. If it takes cussing and insults to get a point across then go ahead. As long as you make a point, and not try to make the other person look bad just so people will see things your way.

What shockey did was not an accident, NOBODY swings a cup that hard and high and "accidentaly" hits the fans.

A game is a game. This game was great, and no it wasn\'t luck when Jeff Garcia ran the ball into the in-zone for a touch down. No, it wasn\'t luck that allowed the niners to come back in this game. NO, the last play of the game wasn\'t luck, it\'s called a mistake. A mistake was made, the snap was bad, and they ended up not making the field goal. If the Giants had the right for another play, then to that I can\'t agree with. Doesn\'t matter what the rest of the world says.

Late hit, yeah he did it. Just because it\'s T.O. people don\'t take it as it is, a penalty. That was a penalty, there\'s lots of penalties like that in a bunch of games. You don\'t know for certain if all the other penalties other players made were on purpose, they were still made and that\'s what it was called.

I stand up for what I said, and I will continue too. T.O. is one of the best out there, so is Jeff Garcia, so is Bryant Young, and Parrish. The whole 49er team is. Again, like T.O. said, if you dont like him taunting and having fun, then stop him.

if the whole 49er team were the best out there they wouldnt be in the wild card. :) just a random observation. Dont really have any interests towars either team so i wont make an arguement on who shouldve won but im sticking with the falcons to win the superbowl. My plan is that the falcons beat the eagles, the 49ers upset(thats right upset, u cant disagree what-so-ever 49er fans) the buccs, then the falcons will make the superbowl. Seems like brooks and the tampa D is the only team that can contain vick.

Are you telling me the Niners aren\'t lucky that the officials screwed up?  Ha.

I didn\'t swear at you.  The only time I insulted you was in response to you insulting me.  And I totally disagree with the 4 things you posted.  Say what you will about that.

And a penalty like Owens is not just a penalty.  How can you not see that?  It started a fight.  If it were anyone else, I would have reacted.  Terrell is no different.

I\'ll disagree with what you said in a lot of places here.  Like Bozco said, I think that your judgement is clouded by the fact that this is your team.  Owens IS one of the best WRs, as you said this time.  He is not THE best, as you said last time.  Big difference.

And what Shockey does was an accident.  And even if it wasn\'t, at least he made up for it.  That fan goes home with the best sports experience of his life.  Owens hasn\'t apologized for the crap he pulled.  He\'s celebrated it.  There\'s your difference.

And since when did you become an expert on why people do things, whether it is me, or a TE for the Giants?  Some people

Not to be mean, but DUH! Yeah, everything I say will always be in favor of my team. That\'s why they\'re my team.

Shockey apologized, Owens didnt. Ok, Good enough. But, shockey did it to a fan, somebody that wasn\'t in the game. Owens did it because of anger, after the interception. Whats done is done, apologizing won\'t change it back. In this world, apologizing will probably make you look like a sissy, thats probably the only reason Owens hasn\'t apologized. Besides, he did it because he wanted to, why should he apologize for that? Yeah, it wasn\'t very mature, but it was a reaction, he did it out of anger probably. Yeah, it started a fight, but nobody made the Giant team fight back, they did it because they didn\'t like it,  Who wouln\'t?

Yeah I did change my mind, T.O. is ONE of the best receivers, the other is Jerry Rice. :)

Yeah.  One thing I have always respected about Owens though is he seems like someone who really doesn\'t care what others think about him.  So I don\'t really buy that apology thing.  Also, I am sure that what Shockey did was an accident, and that fan sure did get plenty of compensation for it.  I\'d love to have been that fan :).

WTF kind of comment is that, lol. a sissy for apologizing? I see it as him taking responsibility and recognizing his mistake and owning up to it which is hard for many people. So that comment wasnt the smartest IMO. I think shockey was ticked at the 49ers, then the fans booed him while hwas on the bench, then threw the ice not realizing how hard he threw it, and realized it was a mistake. Owens hasnt owned up to his mistake which is BS since 2 plays in a row he made a bunch of grown men look like 5 year olds. Not saying hes the only one that started the fight, was also the corner back of the giants the first time(forgot who it was). The second time that ejected the corner back i back him up on that. If you see ur teamate in a fight, u dont just lay back and hope he fights his way through. You help him out and knock the opponent on his @ss.

Well, yeah T.O. doesn\'t care what people think about him. HEY, kinda like me!!

Who was that kid rooting for anyways? It depends on that too. I mean, if I was that fan, I would of prefered getting the ball signed by Jeff and Owens. I still would of took it though, I could of sold it.

Not all people think that way about apologizing.

Yeah, perhaps.

If I were the fan, I wouldn\'t care either way.  I mean, they got an NFL ball the players had been using, and it got signed.  I wouldn\'t care if Mike Rumph signed it, it\'d still make my day.
