They were rolling video of when the piece it the wing. That piece could have caused a small crack. But coming from that cold of space to that much heat, even the most microscopic crack would rip the wing right off. Maybe thats what one of the glowing pieces was, probably the wing coming off. NASA said that the Columbia is like a meteor. When it broke up, there were pieces that were smaller than grains of sand and that they could take days to actually reach the ground. Very interesting.

they are now saying that it could be the a fracture in the wing which caused enough weakness for the extreme temp\'s to take a hold and compimise the super structure of the shuttle.

I found more info on the crew and it sorta hits close to me .....3 crew members were HAMS (Amateur radio operators) and the pilot was an Eagle scout.

I saw on the news today that they have started to retrieve body parts.

I find it hard to imagine how much of them are actually left :crap:

Personally, if I found a piece I wouldn\'t return it. It will be part of history. Call me greedy, but I\'d get a safe and put that baby up forever.

Did anyone watch Bush\'s speech about the shuttle? I didn\'t get to tune into it. I can\'t imagine it was much - but if anyone did watch / listen to it, fill me in , please?

Last I heard they had found a charred skull and a thigh bone. Pretty horiffic really.:(

As for the toxic part...I\'d take the risk .

But if you get caught with it, your screwed like there\'s not tomorrow. Besides, they do need the pieces to find out what happened. I\'d personally give up the piece to NASA and find out whats wrong than be greedy and keep it for myself. If you do what a piece of the shuttle, head to ebay and buy a tile that was taken off a while ago by NASA. That\'s history and its legal.

The "Toxic" part of the NASA/Government warning is laughable, at that speed, and that high up, 99 percent of the shit either burned, or dissipated in the atmosphere.

The only real danger comes from evil CIA/FBI agents nabbing your ass for having the parts.
