Can someone point out something here?  Is that a crack in the wing?

They Never ever ever show body parts from anything other than war from abroad.  They show death abroad, very odd, but true.  We weren\'t even allowed to show body bags anymore at one point.  Shit I would sit around a crime scene for hours just waiting on them pulling the body out for that shot.

I\'ve only seen the body bag shot.  I haven\'t seen any arms or legs exposed, but that doesn\'t mean anything because after the first day I really ahven\'t watched much.  A little blurb here and there.  It\'s all so freaking redundant that it gets old and desensitizes you.

I don\'t think that\'s necessary video to figure out the tragedy.

I would assume that is fake. The astronauts would have seen that and grounded the shuttle. Even if they did notice a crack or something, the Columbia would never had made it back to earth. They would send another shuttle up to retrieve the astronauts or have the Russians bring them back. Then they would either A) nudge it into the earths atmosphere like MIR and Skylab and have it burn or B) release it into space forever. Assumptions made by historical happenings ofcoarse.

1) How can you ground a shuttle that is already in orbit?
2) Send another shuttle up to retrieve them?  They wouldn\'t be able to orbit long enough to wait for another shuttle to get up there.
3) How could the Russians bring them back?

Don\'t forget, this is an UNDOCKABLE ship.  This is the only one of the 4 that can NOT go to the space station.  These people had no chance.

I know.  I was just replying to Cyrus who said he saw a body part.

I see. I didn\'t know it was undockable. I was saying the RUssians can bring them back because they go to the ISS often. They could send a ship to bring them home. But your right. They were doomed from the beginning.

New evidence suggest\'s the wing was seriously damaged, here is an article I found on shortnews.

New photos show shuttle Columbia\'s left wing was seriously damaged

Quote
A ground based US Air Force tracking camera captured high resolution images of space shuttle Columbia as it flew overhead, about 60 seconds before contact was lost.

Quote
The images have not yet been released but are reported to show a jagged edge where the left wing intersects with the fuselage. The photos also show the right, aft yaw thrusters firing to compensate for the incorrect attitude of the shuttle.

Quote
The photos suggest a crack could have formed on the left wing, allowing reentry heat to enter the craft and damage vital systems. Part of the left wing leading edge may also have been damaged or fallen off.

It would be interesting to see this pics if they ever decided to make them public.

I doubt that they will be made public, but if they are, then when the heat dies down and people kind of forget about it.
