That\'s what happens when you have snipers put in buildings that are supose to be off limits.  You expect our military to just hang out in the streets and get shot at?  I would doubt very seriously that they would fire on media.  Hell if they could do that they would have shot Geraldo long ago.

till now all news reporters (including british and other western journalists) have said they have never heard shots fired from the building.
the weird thing now is a reporter that appears so often on al-jazeera will not come on anymore,

Vid, If that was the case, then they would have bombed mosques(sp?) and hospitals by now right? Which as of now, not even the Iraq\'s are reporting that stuff.

You are comparing a hotel to a mosque and a hospital.

yup..I\'ll tell you why too.

They all have in common one thing. Civilian posts that iraqi soldiers use to attack. Yet one gets bombed but the others dont?

But there is a diffference.  Check out the headlines.

"US bombs mosque"
"US bombs hospital"
"US bombs hotel"

still what is the difference?

yes, one is holy

yes, one helps ppl...

yes, another also helps ppl, but in a different aspect.

But they all are CIVILIAN grounds.

It would be a huge deal if the Waldorf in NY got bombed.

Or if the Swiss in Chicago got bombed.

But now it isnt.

It\'s a civilian ground taken up as a military outpost.

If we don\'t shoot at the enemy then why bother going to war?

The Mosque and the Hospitals are there to help people both during the war and after the war.

I can\'t figure out how a hotel helps people. Maybe gives them a bed and a shower?

This is a fight on civilian grounds.  It\'s not like they leveled the friggen hotel.

And yes, if the Waldorf Astoria got bombed in NY it would be a huge deal.  We\'re not in a war over here.

Not yet we arent.

Anywho, that hotel can be used in the rebuilding instead of the destruction of Iraq.

It can be used as housing for those that were displaced b/c of the war either due to the coalition forces or saddam.

Tryant they didn\'t target the journalists, obviously there was something going on in the vicinity (ie. building) for them to do that.  It is unfortunate, but US troops get killed by "friendly fire" also.

I can\'t believe your comapring friendly fire to this

This is collateral damage

Just hope Saddam doesnt go in the hotel or where you are at.  If the bombs were so smart why didnt they hit the right target?  They aimed for the hotel.  When has America shown respect for  al-jazeera or its reporters? Your army has setup some sort of medieval seige around the city,  shelling thousands of pounds of explosives and uranium and who knows what else in there.  It must be hell in the city.

Those bombs that they dropped on Hussein yesterday.  That was in the middle of town.  Who knows what they blew up or killed.  They even admitted the area was dense with civilians.

You\'ve seen the pictures of their bunker buster bombs.  The mushroom cloud looks like an atomic bomb has just went off.

Why won\'t you join Bill O\'Reily and his "its the Iraqi civilians fault for not leaving" or "we need to take out their TV no matter what the cost"

well the thing is it looks like abu dhabi tv\'s and aljazeera\'s buildings were intentially targeted they even broadcasted a video of abudhabi\'s building being hit, their was camera on top of AD tv\'s building and you could see bullets hiting the building and then a bullet hit the camera and it toppled over, when transmition was cutoff they switched to another camera which showed a tank firing a shell right into the building fortunately no-one was inside.
now one can surely make the case that the peering camera looked like a rocket launcher. but even so wiping out the entire top floor of the building was quite extreme.
