« on: June 21, 2003, 12:56:18 PM »
See subject. Right now I\'m reading:

  • Red Mars (Kim Stanley Robinson)
  • Science Fiction anthology (Different authors - I personally enjoyed the works by Bruce Sterling and Isac Asimov the most)
  • The Vampire Armand (Anne Rice)
  • And finally some misc. non-fiction books. Mostly about psychology and filmmaking.
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAPETIME!

Daily mirror, some porn and........... nope, that\'s about it.
Don't waste your words I don't need anything from you. I don't care where you've  been or what you plan to do. I am the resurrection and I am the light. I  couldn't ever bring myself to hate you as I'd like.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (currently 278 pages in)

The Vampire Lestat (256 pages in)

I\'ve actually put The Vampire Lestat on short hold until I\'m done with Harry Potter.  Then I will continue to read the rest of the Vampire Chronicles.

I can usually finish a book in 2-3 weeks so I\'m always looking for new material.

i have to read The Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston and The Sound of the Waves by Yukio Mishima for summer reading. Both sound boring as hell, but then again 90% of books assignmed by teachers are boring.

Last thing I read IIRC was a lesbian prison sex story involving an inmate and a guard, nice little piece of literature.

However the only book I sometimes give a read is Dreams of Terror and Death a collection of HP Lovecraft stories.

Otherwise I just read comics.

That is a weird coincidence Sammy because I just finished reading "Green Mars."  I thought it strange that he put the titles in that order... Red, Green, Blue.  I kinda thought it should be Red, Blue, Green but oh well.  Those books are not really the best SF I\'ve read.  Robinson seems to be too fascinated with geology... He devotes such long passages to descriptions of the martian landscape complete with place names that are impossible to remember, and an inadequate map.  I should have just found a better map of mars to look at while I was reading.  Some of the characters are pretty annoying, like Maya and Frank, but John Boone was cool, and Coyote and Nirgal in the second book are interesting characters also.

Trying to decide what to read next.  I can\'t go directly to the next Mars book.  I need a break.  :)

I am currently in between IT (Stephen King) and Chronicles of Narnia (C.S. Lewis).

Yeah, I know I\'m a bit old for it but its an excellent series.

So I take it you\'re reading it now? If not, you should! :D

Really, it\'s an amazing book IMHO.

That gives way for another interesting question. How long does it take you to read a book?

For me it depends on the subject. I read a 350-something book by Lloyd Kaufman (Troma founder). It took me one day to finish, because I enjoyed it so much. Other books can take from a few days to a week (or two, if I\'m really busy and not that interested in the book).

Heh, yeah that\'s weird. I haven\'t really read that much of it so far (about 70 pages into it). I guess I\'ll just have to wait and see if it\'s worth it. :)

About new reading material... have you read The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck? It\'s an interesting novel and quite different from what I\'ve usually been reading. Just a suggestion anyway, it might not be to your liking. :D
