Pirating on the Xbauwks rising.

From the Pirate-bureau

Xbox tops the list over consoles when it comes to unlawful copying of games. It has never been easier to copy games to DVD-based consoles than it is to copy games to the Xbox.

- The software sales are going down but the accessories sales are going up. We are selling as many Xbox games as we are selling GameCube games, and the GameCube does not have as many installed consoles as the Xbox does. I think that the unlawful copying of games is costing Microsoft 50-100 Million kronor (6.8-13.7 million US Dollars), says Lars Wingefors, founder of game wholesaler SDD.

So MS is losing about 7-14 million dollars just on our small market? I wonder how it looks in the rest of Europe. :)

I would think it is the lack of quality titles on xbox hurting software sales not pirating.

The average consumer that makes up the majority of console buyers doesn\'t even know about pirating.

Well they do here... Everyone including their mother is pirating games these days.

I know a guy who *whisper* installs m0d-chips *makes sure MM is not around* :sconf: and he has his hands full. It is EXTREMELY easy to copy Xbox games (according to him) onto the hard disk.

I wonder if this was a tactic MS choose deliberately, because easy-to-m0d consoles are pretty popular. I wonder how the developers feel though.

Everyone I know that owns an XBOX has had it modded,They even download programs for it.Like changing the menu, create their menus, add videos and sounds, install emulators and roms(even N64 roms.My friend had Mario 64 and Turok on it), install games on it and a tons of other things.
No other console has suffered as much modifications as XBOX

Mods for what?
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

Congradulation\'s. You\'ve discovered an article that says its easy to pirate on the Xbox and it\'s causing MS and the industry to lose money. Wow, I guess this is news or something?

While we are on this, I hope you all realize PS2 is alsoe asily pirated. The only one I can think of where pirating is not rampant is the NGC.

What???

You mean he DIDN\'T post it out of concern for the effect it will have on MS?

you could play copied games on the dreamcast with no mod chip, no bootdisk, nothing

oh, and thanks to the network adaptor and PSO, NGC pirating is rampant
