Rockstar Games announces that it will release Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas exclusively for the PlayStation 2 in October.

After registering a number of potential Grand Theft Auto titles earlier this year, Rockstar Games has today confirmed that the next game in the series will be Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. A PlayStation 2 exclusive, the game is currently scheduled for release in North America on October 19, and in Europe on October 22.

"In the past couple of years, we have put an enormous amount of pressure on ourselves to ensure we do everything possible to exceed people\'s expectations with Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas," said Sam Houser, president of Rockstar Games. "Even though we still have eight months to go, we are starting to become very proud of what we have achieved and we can\'t wait to get the game into players\' hands."

"We are extremely humbled by the success of the Grand Theft Auto series and it has made us push ourselves further than ever to create a title in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas that will hopefully redefine the Grand Theft Auto series and revolutionize open-ended gameplay and video game production values," added Leslie Benzies, president of Rockstar North.

That\'s wo years that have gone into the game, twice as long as it took for them to make Vice City. If this game isn\'t fantastic people are going to be disappointed.

I can\'t pronounce the name so I won\'t bother with it.
Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.

Improving on a kick ass game,that\'s what I like to hear.

Jumpman: Did you really think Max Payne 2 was better than GTA:Vice City?

I finished Max Payne 1 but after playing Max Payne 2 for an hour I lost interest, maybe it\'s just me?

I love the Max Payne games, so yes I enjoyed Max Payne 2 more than GTA:VC. Do I think it\'s a better game? No. But from start to finish I was just beyond addicted to it and GTA was just a little fun here and there for a longer period of time. What a true action game Payne is.

3 of the same games in the same generations while they sure are milking this boy til the ps2 dies.

I hate it when they do that.

I likely won\'t get it. I was looking forward to it next gen.

Screw the GTA series. Unless its got a smooth framerate thats higher then 20 then I won\'t be playing it. Last two gave me a headache.

I want Manhunt 2 Rockstar.

Call me jaded, but I have yet to see a Rockstar game that had any real substance. GTA? Manhunter? SoE? Max Payne? Almost all of them relayed on \'shock value\', \'cept for Max Payne and the dream levels in that brought the game down a bunch. It amazes me people eat up the GTA series, even though it features a bad frame-rate, terrible control and bad car physics. What exactly is so appealing about that? Oh, I forget you get to kill hookers.

The dream levels in Max Payne 2 were a reflecting of his dark and troubled mind and they were beautifully executed. Far from bringing it down like the ones in MP1 did. Guess you just wanted to shoot more people rather than digging into it\'s wonderful story. :(

I wouldn\'t call the story wonderful but certainly good. Max Payne is a good series and I hope they make many more, although they need to seriously make them longer lasting.

GTA: San Andreas will be tons of fun I think
