How bout doing something for your damn self.

wtf? The past is still present. Racial profiling is still going on.  Black people are still getting shafted by white people so what is new? That is why society is in such a sad state now. Because of people like you and giga who continue to make excuses for white people.

You just proved what a moron you are by saying you "could give a rats ass how they got slaves". Blame everyone but your own. Is your last name Sharpton by any chance"

Why don\'t you just stop posting? With every word you type something more rediculous comes out of your mouth. The fact that they were sold excuses white people for lynching and killing:rolleyes:

You would make a good defense lawyer. Don\'t blame the guy that goes out and murders innocent victims blame the firearms dealer for selling him the bullets.

I present facts and you present whiny excuses.  You have yet to refute the charge that perhaps blacks did contribute to the institution of slavery.  I present my opinion backed by facts and what do you presents?  Insults - when you confronted by the truth you can\'t seem to handle it.

With your attitude I would be surprised if you get anywhere in life.  Dwelling on something that happened 150 years ago will only hold you back.  Using it to make excuses for why blacks have a rough time of things in this day and age is idiotic.

Oh yeah, for the SECOND time slavery has nothing to do with racial profiling.

When was the last time you or your buddies were lynched or killed because of your skin color?  I can\'t remember the last time a lynching happened.  It happened when a hundred years ago?  What do you want white people to do about it now?

You CAN\'T hold a grudge for this because lynchings were done primarily in the south by dumb hicks.  The majority of America believe it or not does not want to lynch you.  They want you to get a job and succeed.

Neither situation is good but it is arguable that one is "worse" than the other.

While it is true that Africans sold most of the slaves to trans-atlantic slave traders they did not sell all of them. Europeans and Americans did conduct some raids. So even if Africans did not sell other Africans, slavery would have continued because the demand for workers would have driven traders to capture the slaves themselves.

One thing that is worth mentioning is that western(US/Europe) slavery and eastern(Africa/Middle East) slavery were DRASTICALLY different. Western slaves were, in essence, cattle. They had no rights whatsoever and very few(if any) had the ability to transcend their situation. Eastern slavery was different in that slaves were workers who could work their way out of slavery and become land owners in their own right. They were not looked upon as subhumans before, during, or after their time as slaves.

BTW, I\'m pretty sure you are not but for clarification are you justifying slavery by saying other Africans participated?

Do you not consider segregation "large-scale institutionalized discrimination"? Segregation was probably still in affect during many of our parents\' lives.

The government made it legal for a large portion of the country to be treated as second class citizens. To say that just because these laws are no longer in effect that everything is fine and dandy is to turn a blind eye to the truth. You can\'t really believe that 200+ years of looking at one group of people as less than human can really be turned around completely in 50 years.

We are much better off, as a country, than we were even 30 years ago; but it is going to take time for us to put racism behind us completely.

While "technically" the same as slaves it was more of a class system. You were upper class or you were a serf. Serfs were able to force an entirely new social system to force themselves out of servitude. Still, feudalism was 600+ years ago, that is a hell of a lot of time to get back on your feet.

Well lynching was still going on in the 1940\'s so it\'s hardly been 100 years. And just because it\'s not happening to me does not mean I should just ignore it.  If I don\'t know my past I will never know my future. Thousands of african americans where lynched by white people. No matter when it happen. It happened.

And me and my buddies may not be lynched for are skin. But we are pulled over and illegal searched all the time for no good reason . Overlooked at jobs and denied benefits because of who we are.

There is a civil rights situation I am involved in right now. I will be filing a complaint with NAACP 2marrow.

The people who did that are on death row or have already been executed.  Justice has been served.

downplay racism all you want. But they are regular white folks like yourself.

My situation does not only involves me it involves dozens of other african americans. And it\'s against a major company.

To me, it seems that blacks are the ones segregating themselves with FUBU, BET, and black history month type things. We will never get past racism with stuff like that around.

And Quddus, if you get turned down, its probably because you arent as qualified not because you\'re black. You just think it is or hope it is because its an easy way to get around things. Im not saying you would do this, but its easy to do. Dont like someone? Just get them in deep shit buy labeling them racist and once again play the victim. I think Omarosa from the Apprenctice did that once she got fired...

And if you want to get through to Giga dont call him an idiot back your argument up. It just makes you look ignorant.

blacks dont really separate themselves with fubu. Anybody can wear it. Of course you might get talked about. But then again so do blacks that weart shit like abercrombie and fitch (extremely white and not the nicest people). It used to be that you couldnt work there unless you could fit in their clothes. What a crock.

And if i wanted to get back at giga id call him and idiot and back it up. :p The way you say something matters, but when you are talking facts, theres no way that their validity is decreased even by the most obnoxious of statements.

Oh and BTW lynchings didnt end years ago. It has happened more recently than you think. NO more than 15 years id say. I dont remember the last one. I mean we\'ve still had people dragged behind some damn truck within that time period or so. And its happened regardless of the wrong-doers punishment. Im not saying that it was unjust because they got away or something but im pointing out the fact that racism is so much more common than many people know. Perhaps because a lot of them live in all white areas and dont know anything about what goes on outside of some bumble**** town or wherever they live.
