Doom 3 Afterthoughts?
« on: August 20, 2004, 02:43:50 AM »
Bleh!  :o  After I beat it I didn\'t play it much at all except testing out the funny built-in test maps for the game.  Found here.  But I found a decent mod.

This mod allows a spawned Sentry Bot to go into battle mode. (link here)  I may play through the whole game again in Nightmare mode with a few of these accompanying me, just for fun\'s sake.

Another thing I do is load the "LotsaImps" testmap, go into God mode, no clip mode, bind spawn sentry to a key, fly over all the monsters and drop several sentries on their heads.  Makes for some good fun. :D

Here are some :ghey: videos:

What I hope someone does next is allow a spawned character to go into battle mode also.  What\'s the good of spawning Campbell with a BFG if he just sits there?

Bleh as well.  Didn\'t take much to beat it and it was pretty weaksauce on everything after about the first 15 minutes.  No really original weapons or enemies.  I know it\'s a retelling of Doom 1, but please, at least try to make it a good game eh, ID?

As for games worth playing right now, I\'m currently enjoying the CS: Source beta.  :)

It was ok, not exceptional.  Next month seems pretty promising though HL2, CoD expansion...

Most of us paid $55 but I guess so.  My friend tried to give me reassurance that the mods people make wil give this game a lot of replay value.

He told there is a mod being made to make it like the old-school game System Shock 2.

Good Looking game at first. then it got way to repetitive. Then boring, then i deleted it.    Would be good MP though, although i have tried it yet.

Doom 3 is all about atmosphere, not gameplay.

I\'m looking at it that way and enjoying it.

I was enjoying the atmosphere, but then I started to think about it and it all went to crap.  Zombies can only appear behind you out of the blue so many times before you expect it every single time you trigger them to come out of some area by entering another area yourself.

I\'m part of the Source Beta because I bought Condition Zero.  Yes, it\'s the worst way to play CS, yes, you can get it for free, but I really wanted to test out Source.  I\'m enjoying it and consider it money well spent.  39.99 for a game with one multiplayer map and a vast graphical upgrade over 54.99 for a next to nothing multiplayer experience and a 15 hour single player game.  Counter-Strike Source > Doom 3.  ;)

I can agree with that.

I try to ignore the fact that ID can\'t really make good games.

It\'ll be nice when the engine gets used more.
