Soul Reaver,

we\'re aware that they are on alpha kits, but regardless, Rare has made a design choice in that their game is targeting 30 Hz, not 60 Hz. It really doesn\'t matter on what dev kits it\'s running on now - the end result will be a Xbox360 first generation game.

Guess what, even on the difficult PS2 we had launch games like TimeSplitters that went for that 60 Hz. There were many other games that followed suit. How does alpha dev kits excuse anything?

The comparison is to PS2\'s Timesplitters? It wasn\'t much of a graphics behemoth even back then, 60 fps should\'ve been standard.

*I wasn\'t aware we were talking about Perfect Dark Zero, I should read the thread title more. I\'m in the bandwagon that PDZ is stupid.

/appeasement

edit

However, saying 30 fps breaks any first person shooter games is dumb as hell.

The alpha kits would excuse the frame-rate issues with other games.  The hardware just isn\'t there yet, but that\'s not the issue in this thread.

You\'re right about Rare making a decision to go for 30 Hz, that falls directly on their shoulders.  I must say it\'s a bit odd, especially considering that some developers commented they would easily lock their games at 60fps.

So why do people assume this makes the 360 crap, just becuase  rare has decided to set there goals low(that or they have to work within a limted time frame). Let\'s see what the other devs are capable of achieving before writing the 360 off based on Rare whom IMO is far from the barometer of what to expect with 360.

No one is calling 360 crap. I\'m more worried that the trend of 30Hz is continueing from Xbox onto Xb360 already.

If already first generation devs are competing for visuals at 30 Hz, what is the chance other devs will ever try for 60 Hz if they\'ll have to take double the hit in visuals?
