Well my point was that people complained but they bought it anyways and liked it but at the same time felt dissapointed because many promises werent fullfilled. It was a nice game but nothing like the game that should have been.
SOTC though on the other hand didnt raise any expectations thanks to developers.
The game appeared out of nothing, people saw it, got their hands on it and experienced it by theirselves and they expressed their opinion on it.They liked it and like it for what the game showed. Not for what the game should have been like or what developers wanted to do but didnt do.
The game got attention because it showed greatness without much need of developer intervention to convince.
Fable on the other hand got attention mostly from developer talk.

It was supposed to be innovative and original but it wasnt.Peter Molynuex didnt deliver what he promised and talked about.

Shadow of the Collosus on the other hand wasnt talked as much by developers, they didnt promise anything that didnt make it to the final product.it the game was a surprise to the gamer and an innovative one too

You\'re just making excuses for whining.  It\'s just silly and stupid to measure a game up against what it could have been, whether the developer was throwing out information or not.

i bought it..and i think its a great fookin game

I could see the length being a problem because on my first day/hour i defeated 2 guys. But i can already tell that taking down the collosi will get more confusing as i continue. The first and second guys were relatively easy..the second one took me a good amount of time longer to figure out so i can only imagine it doing it for the next some-odd collosi.

the graphics..are amazing. Sorry if we got people stuck in the 25th century where everything should be lifelike..but its amazing. The first guy, its a cutscene..then to just see this huge ass thing in the distance that u have to take down..very cool.

I\'m not saying to be all pissed off about it.  I\'m okay with 10 hour games.  I finished Wind Waker in just over 10 hours, Jak & Daxter in 12, Jak 3 in 11, and more right around the 10 hour mark.  Those are three of my absolute favorite games of this generation so it\'s obvious I\'m okay with 10 hours.

It\'s just that you guys are such hypocrites.  It\'s fucking pathetic.  Don\'t make excuses, it just makes you seem like more of a jackass.  I just came in here to call you guys on it.

Don\'t take my post the wrong way.  I was merely breaking SoTC down just like so many did with Halo and Fable just to show what hypocrites they are.

I\'m not hating on SoTC, I\'m sure it\'s as boring as ICO.;)

As I said before there is a difference between hyped up games by developers that raise falsy expecations than games which people discover their greatness by theirselves.

People that whined are the the same people that bought Fable anyways.

There is no such difference.  It\'s all bias and stupidity.  I\'ll say it again, games are rated for what they are.  Go to any video game site and you\'ll see one review for a game.  Not one review for those who bought into the hype or raised lofty expectations and then another for those who didn\'t.

Stop trying to make excuses, especially if you can\'t make a valid counter point.

Why the hell is your panty in a wad? You don\'t like it when I say "10 hours is plenty for me"? Suddenly I\'m a hypocrite? Wanna show me a thread where I complained about the shortness or length of a particular game?

I never played Fable...I don\'t even know which system it\'s on but based on your bitchiness, it\'s probably an Xbox game. Does mm\'s opinion get to you THAT much that I mention about the length of a game and suddenly your repressed memories pour out like the Niagara Falls?

Go get a damn box of tissues, cheese cake, rent a copy of Titanic and get your favorite pillow. You complain like a girl!

What Peter Monyleux game hasn\'t been ported to PC?

He apologized for the game not meeting the expectations he kept telling us about for four years.  He never said the game sucked.  Even so, games are still scored on what they are.  If you want to talk about what game developers have wanted to do versus what they accomplished then there are alot of really great games that could be considered trash.  But that\'s just dumb.

The game scored in the 8.X range, same as some of the scores SoTC received as well as some other noteworthy games.  Not to mention it sold well.

Gmanjoe, the post was directed at everyone here who\'s ever bitched about the length of a high profile game compared to a lesser known "artsy" type game.  If you don\'t fall into that category then you need not reply.  BTW, calling me a girl won\'t do anything for you.  In fact, I think it\'s quite pathetic that you use it in a debate.  Secondly, brining up the whole Harry Potter thing just brings up a fond memory of me schooling you on the subject back in July.  Have a nice day.:)

But Fable is an RPG, SotC is not.  Why are we comparing the length of the two?  I get your points, Riku, but I fail to see how it\'s relevant.  Halo 2, another of your examples, was fine in length, it just had a completely stupid single player campaign, but its length and replayability, for those who appreciate the multiplayer of Halo 2, is obviously hundreds of hours for many -- enough to even warrant an "expansion" of sorts.  But SotC isn\'t like Fable.  SotC isn\'t like Halo 2.  I\'m trying to meet you half way on this one, but I am honestly failing miserably...
Don\'t you ever touch my cape.
