Sticker Shock!

So now that we all know the price of this beast, who\'s getting one.

I honestlhy haven\'t seen anyting from Sony that makes the PS3 worth $600, so unless I can offset the price by selling a few PS3\'s myself I don\'t think I\'m getting one for myself at launch.
 
I might change my mind, and I\'ll pre-order just the same. (I can always say no later)

I\'m not interested in the $500 version does not include an HDMI port, only a 20 GB HD, and no 1080p support. SO Sony is pulling a 2 SKU deal as well. I\'d rather use HDMI.


I\'m definitely interested in hearing from diehard PS fans, and their views on this pricing fiasco.

Did Sony shoot themselves in the foot. Is this the foul up MS and Nintendo were waiting for ?

Do we take a stand against the new pricing, because if Sony has success here the prices will never come down in the future.

The PS3 must have games for me won\'t make it at launch anyway.

Until then my trusty PS2, Xbox and Radeon X1900XTX pc will have to do.

but when those games release, I\'ll get me a PS3 for sure, yeah the expensive version.

I\'m getting one but I tend to buy no matter of price. I think Sony is gonna have a difficult time convincing ma and dad to buy one during the holiday season. Lots of regular pressures to pay large energy bills etc and a 500 and 600 price tag might be hard to swallow.

As far as seeing games that make me wanna buy? Well I guess just Metal Gear alone makes it happen for me but I will say it looks like the PS3 has very little over the 360.

Wait until those games which demand hefty processing power for AI, physics and transition animations, then PS3 architecture will show it\'s benefits over XB360.

PS3\'ll have a bit of a rough start, no doubt about that indeed.

Not I. I refuse to pay that much for a console.  Sony will need some KILLER launch titles to even come close to making me think twice and I doubt that happens.

Yeah, considering how little I play the X360... Maybe I\'ll just preorder a Wii and see if I can get Sony to send me a PS3.

Got a couple deposits down around town, getting one at launch, 3-4 if the demand is really high.  Why didja start a new thread for this, there already was a PS3 price thread...

There probably won\'t be a single game worth plunkin down $700 for a system.

I won\'t get the $500 version, I want; HDMI, and 60GB so its the $600 version plus extra controller, plus 2 games, + tax... = Over $750

I\'m kinda disspointed here. I think gamers need to send a strong message to Sony.

this is a golden chance to make sure the industry learns a lesson, but if people buy it then they\'ll keep trying to bump the prices and increase there profit margins over the next couple of generations to the point where upgrading your PC is the better gaming option.

Also I hear EB games is not taking pre-orders, so software etc. will probably follow suit which means people will need to camp out 2 -3 days in advance.... Is it worth it ???

Latest news is EB games will not take pre-orders do to the Xbox 360 pre-order fiasco.

That means software etc. won\'t be either...

Might just be bad rumor, but this buzz has been around awhile now.

Camping out a week in advance might be the only way many people get a PS3.... If they really believe a 1st gen, probably buggy console, is worth a $700 investment.
