^^^That\'s true, but some states purposely set the speeds at an incredibly low speed limit just to create revenue,....i remember some years ago in jersey the top speed that you would find on their interstates was no faster than 55 mph...now that is just crazy,...and for those that have driven on the nj turnpike...from exit 6 all the way down to exit 1...that road is nothing but open straight highway with hardly any turns..i mean you can go straight for about a good ten miles of open highway.

Of course they generated alot of fines for folks goin\' over 55, but i\'m sure the folks that wrote that law knew people were not going to obey that speed limit...i\'ve tried going 55 a few times just to see how fast it actually was,..and on the interstate it actually feels like you\'re doin\' 35 mph......most speed limits on major highways are about 65 mph now,....but that 55 mph speed limit was just ridiculously slow....

I remember my mom\'s 85 ford topaz actually had 55 circled on the speedometer,...just to remind you that if you go past 55, you\'re breaking the speed limit...

Learn how to drive or don\'t get behind the wheel of a car you know you can\'t control. How fucking nieve of you to think that if someone is doing over the listed mph that means they can\'t drive. Your lying through your ass if you going to sit here and act like you never went 5 over the speed limit. GTFOH

Going 55 on a highway that should clearly be 70 is just bullshit. Those people who are doing 90 -100 on the freeway clearly don\'t give a fuck about the posted speed limit anyways. I don\'t do 120 on a freeway because I got sense enough to no thats stupid.

How many fucking accidents and deaths has the speed limit stopped so far? It\'s has made a lot of money for the city and state but it has not stopped people from going over the listed mph. People only slow the fuck down when they see cops. The people who are doing excessive speeds are going to do them no matter what.

I have only got two speeding tickets in mylife. Both times it was all about money. They lowered the ticket to a none point ticket and I payed the fine. All the court cared about was getting the money.

I\'m not backing quddus, I find the current speed laws to be fine in almost every case.  I just prefer cops because they at least have the discretion to know when people are being idiots and speeding, and those that are going 5-10 over and being as safe as those going the speed limit.  I speed on occasion, but I at least have the common sense to know if I get pulled over, its my own damn fault, not the fault of the city.  On a side note, if you are nice to the cop, do what he asks, and be honest and frank, they\'re usually nice back.  Been pulled over twice (once for speeding, other for expired tags) and both times just received a warning.

For the most part , yeah. Every once in awhile you\'ll get an asshole cop, but that is just gonna happen.

Many people have died doing the speed limit so save it. You act as if the speed limit is going to save your life. The only thing that slows people down is cops. You can pOST the speed limit on every fucking corner. People are going to break it unless they see the cops. In many area\'s the speed limit is nothing more than a fucking speed trap.

This is the kind of shit that pisses me off. It\'s not going to change but to sit up here and play "high and mighty" is asinine. Every fucking body has gone at least 5-10 over the speed limit. In most area\'s the speed limit is just a speed trap.

How are you so stupid? The speed limit, while does not gurantee ones\' safety, it does go a long way towards helping reduce your chances of death. It\'s same physics. A car traveling a 100mph has more force when it crashes, as oppose to the car that is traveling 55mph.  I mean, damn, I know you\'re dumb, but you can\'t be that dumb.  Just like a car traveling the speed limit is less likely to kill the bystander it hits, as opposed to the car that is going a 100 mph.

And let\'s not even get into the whole flow of traffic. Let\'s say we have X amount of cars going 35 mph, X amount going 55 , X amount going 75 and then so on and so on.  Do you see a problem? Well, I understand you\'re an idiot, so I\'ll even quote off a site that breaks it down for you.
