Capcom considering Devil May Cry hi-def collection

Quote

Sony recently announced that the first two games in the God of War series would be getting a Blu-ray revamp, and the possibilities for more last-gen reruns have opened up. Capcom are masters of the re-release, and it\'s no surprise that the Japanese publisher is interested in copying God of War: Collection with a compilation of its own, potentially breathing new life into Devil May Cry.

Capcom USA\'s Christian Svensson dropped the hint on the official Capcom forums, stating that he\'d be "first in line" for God of War: Collection and using the discussion to slip in some market research: "I don\'t want anyone reading this the wrong way (as I\'m not saying anything like this could happen) but I\'m seeing some interested for DMC to get this treatment ... are there other titles you\'d like see go this way?

"I\'m looking for some temperature readings."

How about it? Would you want a Devil May Cry: Collection to join God of War? What PS2 franchises would you like to see get the hi-def treatment next? I know I\'m totally alone in this, but give me a reissue of BloodRayne and I\'m sold.

Sony planning to launch 250GB PS3 Slim bundles?

Quote

Eurogamer has caught word that Sony is planning on unleashing three 250GB PlayStation 3 Slim bundles in the UK this year, which will apparently arrive on store shelves as early as October.

Citing a ‘trusted retail source’ (who wises to remain anonymous), the site claims that the bundles will offer a choice between heavy hitters such as Assassin’s Creed II, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Gran Turismo 5. Each bundle will apparently set you back approximately £299.99 GBP of your hard earned cash.

Given the release dates of the above three games, its reasonable to assume that Uncharted 2 will be the first bundle to arrive, since Assassin’s Creed II doesn’t arrive until November and GT5’s launch details are still up in the air (though it should be here by Christmas nonetheless).

Sony has yet to make any formal announcement on the new bundles, though we’ll be sure to let you know of any developments as soon as we get them.

Heavenly Sword devs announce new title - Enslaved

Quote

Just about 2 years ago today, Ninja Theory and Sony teamed up to deliver the heavily hyped Heavenly Sword.  Though the game wasn\'t perfect(what game is?), it was a great adventure that ultimately came just shy of living up to the hype - critically and commercially.  Since then, the franchise was put on indefinite hold, despite a trilogy being planned from the start.  Ninja Theory announced they would be working on a new project, but told us not to give up hope on a sequel.

And now, we know what they\'ve been working on over the past two years.  Ninja Theory will be announcing their latest title next month, in Game Informer magazine.  Ninja Theory\'s new title, Enslaved, is a post-apocalyptic journey and will be launched across multiple platforms.

Yakuza 3 is Coming to the West ?

Quote
Just a few days ago Sega rep Aaron Webber commented that the possibility of Yakuza 3 coming to the U.S. still exists and that it\'s a subject discussed quite often at Sega. Today we can do one better: we\'ve learned that the PS3 exclusive is indeed coming west. According to sources close to the project, Yakuza 3 is currently being localized for release in the U.S. and European markets.

And while this is still not the official confirmation many are seeking, it\'s definitely reason to keep up hope. We anticipate more news on this front will be coming from Sega -- or another publisher, were the game shopped around -- in the coming weeks or months. It\'s possible we could even hear sooner: the Tokyo Game Show occurs later this week, and if you remember, Sega announced Yakuza 2 for the U.S. at the 2007 show.

In other Yakuza news, it\'s also only a few more days until Yakuza 4 is revealed at TGS.

PS3 250GB: Confirmed For Next Week!

Quote

A retail source close to NowGamer has confirmed that the rumoured SKU will be available in the UK from next week

Following not-particularly-hot on the heels of the new PS3 Slim, the 250GB console arrives amid news of Microsoft\'s new \'Super Elite\' Xbox 360 bundles, set to appear in conjunction with Forza 3 next month.

“It seems the battle for the heavyweight games machines has begun”

It seems the battle for the heavyweight games machines has begun, although you\'d need to download quite a few PSN/XBL games to fill up 250GB. Is the increased storage an indicator of how much data future titles are set to install, or maybe the size of upcoming downloads? We\'re not sure, but what we do know is the new 250GB PS3 will cost £300 when it hits retailers…

Our source at the Tokyo Game Show was invited to a private showing of a new game – Wild Arms 6.  Wild Arms 6 was announced today at the Tokyo Game Show during a press conference.  Very little is know about the game as it currently stands, but one can take it’ll play like Wild Arms 1 through 5.  The game is set to be released in ‘Late 2010 in Japan’.  No word on an international version.

Are Sony and Rockstar Negotiating More Exclusivity?

Quote

Take this one with a grain of salt folks, as it is WAAAY out there. However it does come from a reliable source. After reporting on a few insider tips about Sony\'s Gamescom plans which came out to be true (Well, all but one.), we decided to try to find out what was going on for TGS. We were told not to expect too much, just a focus on the games we\'ve already heard about. Turns out, it was pretty much just that. A showcase of games we\'ve heard about already, as well as a new title or two. But no earth shattering news coming from anyone this TGS.

However, we did hear about some things in the future. After asking about if Agent would be shown at TGS, we were told that it would not but that "Sony and R* have something big" planned. When asked what it was, they said "something exclusive". I then thought they were unaware of Agent\'s exclusivity, so I reminded them and they replied "This isn\'t about Agent. It\'s a franchise that is already out.". I told them GTA would be too much of a stretch considering how good the game did on the Xbox 360, to which they replied "Money isn\'t always everything". Not proof that they were talking about GTA, but very suggestive.

"I don\'t think it will be announced this year. But what can I say is PlayStationS (accent on that S) might be the only platform to get ALL games from some big franchise."

Could it be timed exclusivity? The wording they used seems to go against that. But for a company to lose out on a 30 million system install base by not releasing the game on a rival console, that\'s pretty risky. The only thing I can think of, is that something like disc space limitations could be preventing them from releasing the game on DVD. A game like Grand Theft Auto cannot have disc swaps unless it prevents you from being able to freely travel from island to island. Otherwise you\'d have to get up and swap discs just to ride to your girlfriend\'s place on the other island. Many accused Rockstar of making GTA4\'s game world smaller than San Andreas because of Xbox 360\'s DVD format limitations.

It could also just be that PS3 will be the one to get the exclusive content next time. Time will tell.

It is also worth mentioning, that when we asked our source about the cross game chat features rumored in firmware update 3.1, they responded with "I can confirm that cross title chat will be in firmware series 3.". That doesn\'t confirm 3.1, but it does still support the rumors that it is coming soon. Perhaps all the angry posts in EA\'s forum from the leak about them holding up cross game chat for PS3 actually had an effect... They did actually mention EA being pissed over that leak, then said "and why do you think you haven\'t heard anything about EA being upset?"

Footage of PS3 Stereoscopic 3D Gameplay Uncovered

Quote

Recent footage has surfaced showcasing stereoscopic 3D gameplay for the PS3 at TGS 2009.

The Director of the Software Development Department for SCE, Hideyuki Agata stated that,

“Sony is looking to bring stereo vision to the home in 2010. We’d like to increase our content, in line with the start of 3D games in 2010. So far, we’ve wanted to give players a more natural experience by converting 2D games into 3D. Bringing stereo vision to the game allows the player to feel more depth, and the game world becomes more real.”

The footage shows gamers with the stereoscopic 3D glasses playing Wipeout HD.

For those not in the know, stereoscopic 3D vision is any technique which can record three-dimensional visual information or creating the illusion of depth in an image by presenting a slightly different image in each eye.

Level 5 Would "Seriously Consider" Dark Cloud Sequel !

Quote

Level 5 is a rising star in the world of Japanese RPGs with titles like White Knight Chronicles, but their foundations were built much earlier with games like the Dark Cloud series. Kotaku reports that the company is willing to return to their roots if they hear significant clamor from the fan community. "At this moment we don\'t have a specific plan for a sequel in the Dark Cloud series," said Yoshiaki Kusuda. "There are many staff members, including myself at Level 5, who have worked on the Dark Cloud series. There are some who decided to join Level 5 because they love the Dark Cloud series. So, if requests from users should increase in the future, we would seriously consider making it."
Dark Cloud and its sequel were celebrated gems of the last generation that merged traditional RPG elements with city building game mechanics. Right now Level 5 is probably most known for the Professor Layton series in America, but bringing back old franchises seems to be a trend we\'re seeing more of lately. Maybe Dark Cloud fans will see something on that front soon.

Bethesda Details Fallout 3 PS3 DLC, GotY Edition

Quote

It\'s certainly been a long time coming, but Bethesda has finally outlined the scheduling plans for Fallout 3 downloadable content. The first downloadable pack will be "Broken Steel," coming next Thursday, September 24. Then on October 1, all four remaining packs will be released at once for a flood of new content. Those are, of course, Operation Anchorage, The Pitt, Point Lookout, and Mothership Zeta. We assume these will be priced similar to their Xbox 360 counterparts, at $9.99 each.
If you want the downloadable content but don\'t own the game, it\'s in your best interest to wait a few more weeks. On October 13, the Game of the Year edition will hit stores with all five downloadable content packs included. It will cost $59.99 on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and $49.99 on the PC. If you don\'t have the game, you\'ll get the same content that early adopters grabbed, but for fifty bucks less.

Facebook confirmed for PS3 News

Quote

A source close to Sony has told Eurogamer that yes, Facebook is heading to PS3.

The images of the service that appeared on the PlayStation website - caught by Scrawl before removal - were posted by mistake, we\'re told.

The official Sony UK PR line is that there will be more information on this "very shortly".

Could Sony introduce Facebook to PS3 before Microsoft can to Xbox 360? Live, remember, gains Last.fm, Twitter and Facebook as part of a social update sometime this autumn period.
