  Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH announces the release of four Metal Gear Solid classics on Sony\'s PlayStation (R) Network announced. The reason for this novelty is also the approach the actual release of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker for PSP (R) (PlayStation (R) Portable).

It starts with a classic in video game history and the most influential recent book: The original PSone version of Metal Gear Solid issued on 19 November for 9.99 euros for downloading. Metal Gear Solid series marks the first step in a full 3D game environment designed and established the fame of Hideo Kojima as a developer of world stature.

[size=+1]Zipper working on unannounced PS3 game [/size]

MAG is currently in the final stages of production, with Zipper stress testing the online servers and ironing out some final bugs.  The game is due in just a bit more than 2 months on January 26, exclusively on the PS3.  It doesn\'t look like Zipper will be taking any time off, though - the Seattle-based developer is working on another, unannounced PS3 title.

According to the LinkedIn profiles of several Zipper employees, the dev has been working on a second PS3 game for quite some time.  Graham Kay, a former Design Manager of Zipper Interactive, lists that he worked on \'Massive Action Game (PS3) & Unannounced project (PS3)\'.  More recently, a senior software engineer for the company, wrote that he\'s currently "developing gameplay for two PS3 games".  Specifically, he works "on the core character team at Zipper developing gameplay to be used in both games currently under development for the PS3".

Earlier this summer, we spotted SOCOM 4 listed on PCB Production\'s credits page and theorized that Zipper could be working on the title.  It\'s increasingly looking more and more like this is the case.

[size=+1]New Prince of Persia announced, coming in May 2010[/size]

Ubisoft has just announced that a new installment in the popular Prince of Persia: Sands of Time series will be available in May 2010.

The new game, titled Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, is currently in development for consoles and handhelds.

So far we know that The Forgotten Sands will feature “many of the fan-favorite elements from the original series as well as new gameplay innovations that gamers have come to expect from the Prince of Persia brand.”

[size=+1]BioWare\'s Cho hints at PS3 Mass Effect 2, ME2 DLC - English and Polish[/size]

In an interview with Polygamia.pl (English version in the right-hand column) Bioware\'s Adrien Cho was asked, among other things, about the possibility of Mass Effect 2 coming out for the PS3. He does not confirm it outright, but his evasive statements indicate that something is likely going on in that direction.

He also talks about Mass Effect 2 DLC, inspirations for the game and why ME2 is better than Dragon Age.

Square Enix decided that the initial shipments of 1 million toward release, 150k on release day, and another 150k over the weekend are hardly enough and could hurt the games launch sales... shipping 1.8 million instead, as announced by Square Enix CEO, Yoichi Wada, today at the game\'s official countdown launch event in Tokyo.

Yeah, well... be prepared to rejoice once more! In an email to customers, Final Fantasy VIII was listed in the "COMING SOON" section... well... is that official enough for you? hah!

[size=+1]Ubisoft wants to create an RPG the scale of Final Fantasy

Publisher Ubisoft has put out a good amount of AAA titles ranging across many genres since they’ve been around; although one genre they’ve yet to venture to is the role-playing game. In this week’s Famitsu, Ubisoft executive director Alain Corre speaks of their desire to create an RPG; an RPG the scale of Final Fantasy.

“Our mission is to create hit games on the same level as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest.” Corre told the Japanese magazine. “We’d like to see everyone in Japan root for us. Perhaps someday our efforts will result in a major hit on the level of a Dragon Quest.

“We’ve made shooters, strategy, sports, action, and adventure games, but not any RPGs yet. Still, we’re open to all possibilities. If we can get a quality team of RPG-oriented developers, I’d love to release one. If we have a chance to work with Japanese creators, then I’m sure we can make a game that appeals to the Japanese audience.”

[size=+1]Dead or Alive Series Alive and Well; Coming to PS3[/size]

In the latest issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine UK much new information has surfaced about already announced games.  However there is one game mentioned that hasn’t yet been officially announced for the PlayStation 3.


Team Ninja’s Dead of Alive series has long been synonymous with the Xbox brand, mainly due to Itagaki’s (Dead of Alive and Ninja Gaiden series creator) love for Microsoft’s console. Ever since DOA 3, each following installment of Dead or Alive has been released on a Xbox console. Fortunately for PS3 owners Itagaki is longer working under TECMO which owns the Dead or Alive IP. This lead to speculation that Dead or Alive could follow Ninja Gaiden over to the PlayStation 3.

Just recently, Dead or Alive: Paradise was announced for the PSP, which further fueled hopes of the Dead or Alive series making its way onto the PlayStation 3. Now, in the latest issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine, it’s been “rumored” that Dead or Alive 5 is in development on the PlayStation 3. Exactly what fans had been hoping for since Itagaki’s departure from TECMO.

Although this reveal was in the “Rumour Machine” section of the magazine, going by the other listed “rumors”, Dead or Alive 5 is as good as confirmed. Almost all other “rumors” listed have either been announced or have been discussed recently.

I\'ve played this game on Home and found it to be unique. Most games on Home appear lame. This is definitely a game to try out a few times over.

[size=+1]Pachter: Epic Games regrets Gears of War Xbox 360 exclusivity[/size]

Michael Pachter believes that Epic Games "regrets" singing Gears of War as an exclusive title for the Xbox 360. He expressed this and more in the latest Game Trailers Bonus round where they talk about exclusivity deals are a thing of the past.
 

The panel, moderated by Geoff Keighley, also included Michael McWhertor of Kotaku. Asked whether or not they agree with publishers still publishing single platformt titles, Pachter responded:

 

"Absolutely not, and I think the Epic guys can\'t wait until when they start doing multiplatform games." So given this, does he think Gears of War will ever go multiplatform?

 "I don\'t. I think that Microsoft has a contract to make sure that they get that sequel. But I think Epic regrets signing that contract. You\'re up to 11 million PS3 in the US and probably similar number in Europe, you got a 20 million addressable market with a game like Gears of War, I mean that thing would easily sell 3 or 4 million on the PS3; that\'s a lot of profit.

Am sure Epic Gears is comforted by your words, Mr. Pachter.

BUT, it does make sense since it would sell well on the PS3. But that\'s using hindsite after they found out it would be as successful as it turned out to be. I\'m sure when they made the 1st one they didnt know for sure it\'d turn into a huge franchise, so who knows if they\'d be this popular when the ps3 released, so they grabbed the nice extra paycheck from MS while they could at the beginning
