That\'s a pretty bold statement from Konami\'s president if I ever saw one.

"Konami\'s strategy is definitely right," said Shunji Nakauchi, an analyst with Marusan Securities Co. "Konami and Capcom are among the few game developers capable of developing games for PlayStation 2."

Speaking of Capcom, I\'d like to point out that Onimusha will be in retail stores tomorrow.  I\'d also like to point out that both Konami and Capcom share development skepticism of the X-Box as well as full support to the PS2.  So what do you all think about this stuff?

There will defentely be some kick ass games on x-box just wait and see, But i am still thingking the Ps2 will win.

Most developers are VERY unsure of MS\' intentions for the Japanese territory (Especially both Capcom and Konami).  Japan is a HUGE portion of the gaming market and all developers know that if you can\'t win Japan over, then you can\'t turn a hefty profit in the console industry.  So far, we have seen that X-Box is going to be geared moreso towards the American market then anything else while the PS2 is directed towards all the territories namely Europe, America and Japan especially.  With delays of the X-Box in Europe and an unheard of support in Japan, how are developers supposed to react?  Sony\'s strategy was known a year ahead of the PS2\'s release and developers saw it as a great situation and they jumped on the bandwagon.  The X-box is just 7 months away from release and Konami and Capcom both are still unsure of the console.  Good or bad thing, you be the judge.

Things is going the way Sony wants. The big Japanese developers are not impressed with the x-box. Sony knows that the japanese market is the way to success. Sony will do about anything to prevent the x-box to become a japanese success.
Europe and US are playing a lot of japanese games, this is why x-box has to success in japan. I think they wont.

i honestly wouldn\'t celebrate anything till the console is released, but i will love my ps2 none the less, they are unsure that will make it, but they aren\'t 100% out of wack hands down sure it wont make it, the pics were prom a second gen x box, with only a g force three, the graphics will get better, but the games are what will make or break the console in the end. wich is what also makes me wonder, look at the ps2\'s first launch games, and evne latly they all suck, not all of them, but only a few jewels have stood out since the release, so if x box comes out with some crappy games, what will stop it there, theyw ill make better ones, like the ps2 is doing. we will not be sure till its release, it\'s not over till the fat console sings.

Well, I have some restored faith in Konami after Shadows of Destiny  Z.O.E, Silent Hill2 , the only thing that can fully restore it is a 2D CastleVania, damnit.

Still, it doesn\'t suprise me as Konami has always been an active Sony supporter. The sit back and wait approach is probably best for them (same for Capcom). MS will have to go "the extra mile" to win the true support of them, meaning for them to push Xbox development to front of the line, resource wise.

I don\'t think Konami is pulling away from X-box devving because of the pics at Gamestock but rather because of MS\' unknown intentions towards the Japanese gamers.  MS is going to target the American gamers primarily while no Japanese or European support has been divulged.  Sony got their console out to all three territories in a single year while the X-Box is still struggling to even get final dev kits by this summer.  Rumors of delays in Japan, delays in Europe already confirmed... what\'s a developer that gets most of its funds from Japanese gamers, supposed to do with a company that doesn\'t focus on a devs primary demographic?  Some of Konami\'s greatest sellers are their dancing games which never even see the light of day in the US, but are released in Japan almost Quarterly on the PSX and soon the PS2.

In order for a company to succeed, they have to be successful in both the US and in Japan in order to turn large profits or win console wars for that matter.  PSX was successful in all territories while the Saturn was successful in Japan only.  Anyone can pull sales figures for that one to back me up.  Point is, Konami and Capcom\'s biggest audience is the Japanese gamers and so far, X-Box is targetting America.  Americans are a large section of the pie, but Japan is so partial to Konami\'s and Capcom\'s franchise titles and that country alone makes up TONS of their profits.  It\'s all about the money and Konami and Capcom are questioning the fact if MS can really show it to them.
