So, in other words your agreeing that the ps2 is only slightly minutly more powerfull then the DC?
The statement made by Tecmo about the DC has more credbility then this total lie. DOA2 on the DC was one of the better looking DC games.. however, DOA2 on the ps2 was one of the systems worst looking games compared to the current standards. Sony would have never paid Tecmo to say something like that beacuse the game was not on their console at the time. (not to mention when it did come out, it only looked a tincy bit better) You would need to give me a reason Tecmo would say this in order for the obvious to not be belived.

No. I do not agree that the PS2 is just slightly more powerful then the DC. I am only saying that Tecmo also said they maxed out the DC when they was porting it over to the PS2. So, did Sony buy them out? No. This is a classic Tecmo line. It is a nice way to hype up a game.

I never once said Tecmo was not lying about this statement, I only said that alot of companies lie to hype the product of choice. However, if you are going to condem one company for lying about their product, then you must do it for the other. Something I don\'t think you are really willing to do, because if you done that then you would realize the industry is filled with lies.

Saying a console is crap, is much differnt from claiming you maxed out a console with your first game. Rubin had an opinon, he is entitled to it. But Tecmo has lied, they have not even come close to maxing out the ps2, yet they said they did.

I\'m sure if Tecmo produced a game for the Xbox and then turned around and produced the sequel for the PS2 and said they maxed out the Xbox - you\'d have no problem with it.  You are way to worried about what is goin\' on over on the Xbox side of things and tryin\' to find a way to discredit every developer that developers for MS. You can whine about the developers of OddWorld being "whiney" and how Tecmo is liars. Anything you want. In the end it doesn\'t matter. If the game is solid, who cares if the developers lied about a certain other system? I don\'t . I only care if the game is solid - which in my humble  opinion the DOA series has never been.

Have you seen the games at e3?
Have you see FFX in person?

FFX is a 2nd generation game, and is getting much closer to "toy story" type graphics.

Time will tell if by the end of the ps2 generation if it is achived, but you discredit the ps2\'s power tottaly. Your opinion is not fact, like you want everybody to belive.

3: Not in person.  It is nowhere near toy story graphics. If you want to believe that though, go ahead. The closest towards Toy Story graphics has been Lugi\'s Mansion and that isn\'t exactly a PS2 game, now is it?

I discredit the PS2 power? Not quite. It can and does produce some wonderful games. However they are not near toy story quality and I doubt they ever will be. Polyphony (sp?) said themselves they pushed the PS2 to the max. If that is true, then it is nowhere near toy story graphics. If that is not true, then they lied. You take your choice.

As for my opinion not being fact. I\'m totally aware of that. Nor is yours. On the other hand, I don\'t sit and worry about MS constantly. I don\'t worry about that "backlash" nor do I worry about this place turning into "xbox central". If you wasn\'t so paranoid, then maybe you could just enjoy each system when they are out. Instead of worrying about which developer is lying about the PS2 or Microsoft buying everyone out.

Kazunori Yamauchi was asked about perfecting the simulation. Graphics were not mentioned by either the question or the answer. The comment "I have used almost all of the performance that PS2 can provide" is open to many interepretations. Most likely he was talking about the simulation aspect beacuse thats what topic was posed, not graphics. He also mentioned GT3 network, which is also gameplay/simulation related.

You also gotta remember, Yamauchi would have loved to spend more time on GT3.. look at the Gamespot interview they had with the team.. they have clearly stated that the thing they were disappointed the most was that they had to release the product.. but at the same time.. finding new things on the ps2.

Point taken, Chrono. However, they did promise an AI that was vengeful. They promised volumtric fog. Tracks with actual rain,etc. These are just examples of a company lying about a product. Am I complaining about it? No. Why? Because the overall product was still fun and it is just a game.

You seriously waste to much time hating a company and not just enjoying games. You don\'t have to like Tecmo or love their buisness style.  If you enjoy the game though, that is all that matters.

Gees people get over the evilness of the world, it\'s not just software companies that pull tricks like that.

I agree with living-in-clip, just enjoy the games these companies give you and don\'t give a fu*k about anything else they say or do, I know I don\'t.

A few other points, TTT looking better than DOA2, you need to sit closer to the screen my friend.

Also I\'m sure Pixar threw out their renderfarm the day Sony announced Toy Story was possible on the PS2.

I\'m sure the people that come out with these....erm, statements aren\'t the same geezers working their ass off to make a quality game.

The only company I\'m a little pissed at is Sony,

A, for producing the most mediocre, overpriced, bad-warrantied, expensive to repair piece of electrical equipment I have ever had the misfortune to use.

B, making a total balls up of the launch.

Sony goes around and says "PS2 will have Toy Story quality graphics.

EA - "Dreamast will bomb without us" (10 million consoles is not bombing).

Sega "Dreamcast can push 3 to 4 million polygons." (liars! I saw 5 mill. in TD:LM! Take it back!)

Tecmo "We maxed out the DC with DOA2 (Shenmue or ShenmueII, nuff said)

George Lucas "PS2 is an amazing piece of hardware."


it goes on and on and on and on. I just sit back, and appreciate where my loyalites lie. You guys NEED to get some lives and quit hassling a company every time their PR says something overly good about another system. It is all junk they spew.

Yeah, I know. The DOA games are crap anyways what are we all arguing about? the new Ninja Gaiden will be the Tecmo title to look for, unless they bring back Tecmo Super Bowl

If you want a real 3D fighter, get a Saturn, and get Virtua Fighter 2. Or buy some goofy blue and red glasses and  play Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike. Same effect.
